If you plan to let this one be a sort of dual role car, you might consider leaving the cage in for the extra stiffness it would provide.

I missed this one earlier John. Honestly I've shelved the autocross ambitions for now with kids' activities, work, projects around the house, and spending every Sunday boating with the family. There's just not enough time right now. If I did have time then either the RX8 or the 911 could easily satisfy that goal.

It says "Porsche Club Racing" and has the Porsche crest. With the RSR bumpers and wing it seems fitting, though I'll remove it if I go back to a more stock look.

Nice car! The Targa is such a unique body style - a body style on a car with an already unique exterior. Makes for a cool car. Great color, too!

Always a shame to see someone drop all that effort and $$$ making a targa a track car. I would assume this helped with the pricing. Along with the "rode hard and put away wet" look.

I'd put it back to stock as far as possible. I would really lose the big brakes for stock ones. That will free up some $$$ in the used car section for wheels and brakes. The brake take-offs from the new brake owner could be used for trade-in. Carreras have plenty of stock brakes for street driving and AX. Only if you get serious on the big track will it benefit from more brakes.

I also am not a big fan of that engine compartment. I'd put that back closer to stock with black wires and lose the sticker(s).

I am not quite sure how serious this guy really was on this car - it looks a little cobbled - i.e.it has headers but the a/c compressor is still installed? Again, I am sure that helped with the price and if anyone can get this in top shape again, it will be you!

I have to say, I am a little jealous. I have been a big Targa hater but since I have my coupe fix I have been jonesing for a ragtop. I have been wondering if a Targa would fit the bill. LOL!

I don't know if I'd necessarily call the car cobbled together, everything that the PO did was absolutely top notch. His philosophy regarding racing was that he just wanted to have fun and compete, but didn't want to make the hardcore compromises required to make it a class winning car. Hence the A/C in place, he didn't want to gut the car and make it uncomfortable for the next owner.

I haven't had a huge amount of time for the 911, so I've just done a few small things thus far. The cage is out, back half of the interior is gutted, I've removed the RSR tail and front splitter, removed the rockers (torn on the look), and gave it a good cleaning. I do need to rid myself of the Maserati so I have more time.

Definitely better without the wing, but it bothers me that the "Carrera" script is too low.

Many CEs (mine included) had the Carrera "emblem delete" option...saves weight on the back end . Matt, I didn't go back through this thread, but what happened to the CE Diamond Blue Fuchs (and were they 15" or 16"). I've got the 15" Fuchs, and they still fit over my 930 calipers/rotors.

I would take off those horrid bumpers front and back and return to stock with a stock location outlet muffler and stock location fender oil cooler (driver's side added if needed). The gaps are terrible on the fiberglass in the front and the rear is cut up for the exhaust, not well color matched and also not well aligned.



You're the one that was posting something for the "purists".

And yes, delete the carerra script and fill in those holes already!

If you are looking for OEM Sliverknit, I'd check out World Upholstery and/or GAHH. It's been a while, but I've orderd stuff from both of them in the past with good results/service.

Fact is its always going to be a bastard, and I'm ok with it. The suspension is totally reworked, brakes are 993TT front and 928S4 rear, the engine is modified, etc. I have the stock bumpers and I'm not a big fan, I'll probably tinker with the front alignment then have them resprayed when I do the deck lid. The rear bumper would look great with a dual outlet muffler. And yes, in true CE form I'll probably go sans Carrera badge.

I think I already said this earlier in the thread, but let me spell it out for you one more time:

- The car will be worth more with stock components installed back
- You can on top of that sell the ugly bits for serious $$$!
- Nobody will pay less for the car because it has a hopped up engine or suspension
- People will pay less if it looks like a bastard

WWAD? (What would aigel do?):

- Sell brakes and replace with stock. Work a trade in of stock components if you can.
- Install fuchs, sell whatever it has on there now
- Sell front and rear bumpers and reinstall orignials
- Put back rockers
- Clean up engine bay - put back black wires, remove autothority sticker, paint fan housing and fan stock. If you can, sell MAF and install stock unit. You'll live with 10hp less (if that!). Fix A/C.
- Install SSI with single outlet sport muffler (i.e. Dansk) and backdate heat.
- Install stock steering wheel or non-race momo
- Move gauges back into correct position
- Remove electrical cut off switch and patch / repaint cowl
- patch / repaint decklid
- Clean up stock seats and keep

After the above, I don't see how the car is a bastard any more? It will be for the PURISTS! It will be a stock carrera with an engine rebuild using speed parts and a stiffer suspension!

Just my two cents! I know, by now you are tired of me, so I'll stop, I promise!
