Wha?!? I can't think of a single reason why that would be true.

Yeah, I put a dealer rebuilt w/ Porsche warranty in my SC and never heard another peep from it. The service dept. at BH Porsche Audi puts them in, that would not be the case if they were pissing back on them.

Wow. Nice car Steve.

And who cares if it doesn't go. A car that nice I'd just sit in it in the garage LOL.

Edit: the alternator problem may just be bushes/brushes - cheap and easy fix.

wow..struggling with a slow internet connection to see this car. looks like a Beauty!!

a 85?! very nice.

rebuilt alt? i had Riteway in SF build mine..(and about 4 of my friends). they are bombproof. not one has failed. cost about $180 IIRC. i feel like it was worth the risk..they come back spotless and new looking. my car is on mine for about 7 years..my brother's maybe 10.

give them a look. they really are lasting for us.

where did you move too? still near me in concord?

Why do you think it was the alternator in the first place?

As said earlier, a cheap and easy thing to do is change the relays and fuse. If it happens again, in my case it was part of the ignition switch. Part 964-613-012-00-M100.

RMG called and the alternator is bad and the battery is marginal. Dan said many years ago pretty much all the rebuilt alternators they installed gave out within 90 days. Maybe rebuilts are better now, I don't know, but the new one isn't much extra for the peace of mind. I don't want to get stuck again and lose hours waiting for a flatbed. Going to replace the battery as well and get a new DME, as the current one is 7 years old. Fuel pump "map" is marginal, so replacing that as well...

As Denis would say, my $26,800 car has now become a $29,000 car. Dan at RMG thinks the car is in amazing condition and well worth the $26,800.

I hope you mean DME relay! Keep it in the car as a known working spare.

Yes- relay. Install it and keep the existing one as a spare.

Bash- I'll be very near you. We should meet up.

Was heading for work in SF at 6:15am and the traffic to the bay bridge was off the hook bad. Took a detour across the San Rafael bridge, down 101, across the Golden Gate into SF with no slowdowns. Beautiful morning, stopped for an omelet before work. I need to do this more often...
