Glad someone caught that...

Denis, just bang her and move on like usual :D

gtc 09-04-2012 11:09 AM

My two cents:
If you don't know how the guy would feel about you two dating, you probably aren't close enough friends for this to be a problem.

fintstone 09-04-2012 11:19 AM

like a screen door?

nynor 09-04-2012 12:49 PM

friend's ex is verboten. regardless of what either of them say about it. i wouldn't even bring it up as an option. IMO. YMMV. carry on. etc.

Hugh R 09-04-2012 02:16 PM

"ex" as in he has no claims to her anymore, right? So you (collectively) aren't allowed to date anyone that someone in your universe of acquintances might have dated at sometime in the past?

I would question a friendship if when I was single they felt I shouldn't see their exgirlfriend.

DanielDudley 09-04-2012 02:19 PM

''It's been ten years, but I LIKE the guy.''

So why don't you ask him out ? Seriously, if he hasn't gotten over it by now, it isn't even your moral obligation to ask him. You weren't the cause of them breaking up, and there is no butterfly effect that goes into the past.

If you can't see your way to dating her now, that's fine, but it is really more like a hang up than a moral virtue.

Hey now!

Not that there is anything wrong with that

McLovin 09-04-2012 02:30 PM

Obviously, go out with her, do her 20 times in 48 hours, and if the ex gives you any lip, give him the pimp hand.

This thread is 4 pages long now.

How old is the boy? Where does he live? Are you uncomfortable talking about him? Does she share custody of the boy with your friend?

What does this mean?

They have a daughter together.

fintstone 09-04-2012 06:37 PM

You don't need her. Just keep using your "pimp" hand.

Yep, it's like that everywhere. That's why you don't go into a bar and pick up someone until you know the lay of the land. That's only the micro version. In Denis's world that "bar" stretches for miles along the Sunset Blvd. corridor and beyond.

genrex 09-04-2012 07:03 PM

How old is her child now? Where does the child live?

You seem to be reluctant to discuss this for some reason.

speeder 09-04-2012 07:07 PM

Why would i discuss her child on this thread? I'm not in any kind of relationship with her. I may never so much as go on one date with her. I've never met the child. She is about a 10 year old girl.

Denis,
A buddy just got engaged to another buddy's ex on Saturday. They were very attracted to each other and the first relationship simply didn't work.

Buddy 1 called Buddy 2 when he started dating the woman. He just wanted to "clear the air." Buddy 2 told me that he thought it was a class act thing to do.

Move on. Just date her.

Larry

How do you know she is his castoff? He could be her castoff.

And after 10 years, who cares?

Jim Richards 09-05-2012 06:54 AM

Denis, I suggest you give the ex-BF a heads up that you might start dating her. If he balks, get in touch with Rick Lee to reserve some of his garage space. If not, you're golden.
