Apologies to the one guy who married his virgin high school sweetheart... I know you are out there!

He is definitely her "castoff", not the other way around. Not that it matters after 10 years, (or more). This thread has been interesting for me, lots of strange replies and a few straightforward ones from both perspectives.

ANd yes, anyone I date is going to have past relationships that ended. I'm in my early 50s, for chissakes. :rolleyes:

yep. anyone past 20yo is going to have some baggage. if not, they haven't done any living.

i do question the wisdom of starting a relationship with the ex of a friend. i guess if everyone is an adult, things might be copacetic.

When I met my wife she had moved out/separated for two years and divorced one, she described her last marriage as "two good years, then a seventeen year argument".

We had a serious talk about if she had any desire to reconcile... her response was an enthusiastic NFW!

Him, not so much... my wife was talking to her EX on the phone (they have a teenage daughter)... it went back and forth cordial enough... then a pause and she said "I'm at his house" then looked at me funny and said "he hung up" :D
