So....back on the bike again.
After 2.5 years, bed rest, including acupuncture I'm back on my bike again. Took my CF Lemond out for a turn around the 'hood.
Did about 18 miles on my lower chain ring only. Did mostly bike trails to get used to the saddle and up and down on the shifting again.....except for for a brief 'spirited' run behind a bus doing 32-35mph.....got sucked along nicely for about 8 blocks..... Gonna feel it tomorrow. Everything still fit, my bike shoes, riding gear, the iPod cranked up, first tune was 'Smells like Teen Spirit'. My goal is to get back under 170 again..... BTW, was cruising the CL ads and a bike identical to mine except for the Japanese grupo is up for sale....killer price for a limited edition hand built bike. $750 is the asking...Shimano 9 speed Lemond Zurich Road Bike If anyone out of town wants it, I'll help out.

Excellent! My knees are going to feel it tomorrow too. I thought it was a good idea to chase down a much younger and skinnier rider. Ouch.

So my Vetta cycle computer is DOA. No problem, my Tom Tom does double duty. Bulk velcro...almost as good as duct tape.

Congrats, it's good to get back in motion isn't it? I need to get a fatter saddle. My current one is actually creating alot of prostate irritation on long rides.

Nice job. I was on the race track doing laps on the bike after racing yesterday on my Lemond Zurich. I have a carbon fiber felt but the Zurich is the go to bike and the one I'd keep if I had to get rid of one of them. I bought mine is 2002 or 3 I believe.

Congrats on getting back on the bike. I picked my wife up a Lemond Chamberry this spring. Other than it being too small for me, it felt as nice as my '10 Specialized carbon Roubiax. ![]() |

50 miles today. A loop around Portland, basically. Stopped for a flat and at a farmers' market. Riding the old Peugeot.

I need a new saddle for my bike up here. I just did about 24 miles and 2,500 ft of climbing but man that saddle is too long in front, or needs to angle down in front. Gets rather sore up there. Let me know what saddle you get, flatbutt.

Back in the day when I did the Gibraltar Road climb on a regular basis, I found turning it to one side, depending on the angle of 'yer dangle' and a 'slight' dip in the front helped.

I usually find myself with my weight shifted over to one side of the saddle. Not like I am sitting on the side, but just enough to make it bearable.

So I called the guy.....I think he's soft on his asking price. And for you little girls, it has a triple front chain ring.

My experience is you willfully force yourself to ride every other day, and restrict yourself to low mile runs. Work your way up slowly.
If you do this, you will have short recovery times, and you will not be risking a sudden set back. |
