In a Mass Knife Fight to the Death Between Every American President, Who Would Win an

o Every president is in the best physical and mental condition they were ever in throughout the course of their presidency. Fatal maladies have been cured, but any lifelong conditions or chronic illnesses (e.g. FDR’s polio) remain.
o The presidents are fighting in an ovular arena 287 feet long and 180 feet wide (the dimensions of the [1] Roman Colosseum). The floor is concrete. Assume that weather is not a factor.
o Each president has been given one standard-issue [2] Gerber LHR Combat Knife , the knife [3] presented to each graduate of the United States Army Special Forces Qualification Course. Assume the presidents have no training outside any combat experiences they may have had in their own lives.
o There is no penalty for avoiding combat for an extended period of time. Hiding and/or playing dead could be valid strategies, but there can be only one winner. The melee will go on as long as it needs to.
o FDR has been outfitted with a [4] Bound Plus H-Frame Power Wheelchair, and can travel at a maximum speed of around 11.5 MPH. The wheelchair has been customized so that he is holding his knife with his dominant hand. This is to compensate for his almost certain and immediate defeat in the face of an overwhelming disadvantage.
o Each president will be deposited in the arena regardless of their own will to fight, however, personal ethics, leadership ability, tactical expertise etc., should all be taken into account. Alliances are allowed.

Jimmy Carter and a knife fight is a comical thought to me. Among the first dead would be my suspicion.

Teddy Roosevelt. Winner.

McLovin 09-07-2012 01:27 PM

Umm, this will be a short poll.

How many other presidents have killed a cougar with a knife?

Jrboulder 09-07-2012 01:32 PM

I'd say FDR would be one of the first. Teddy on the other hand would probably be one of the last.

I really depends on who brings a gun. They're politicians. They don't have to play by the rules.

Andrew Jackson - bad ass, frontier guy, tough, old hickory, fighter, wiry...fighter. During his time in the white house, the white house was known for its drunken parties with frontiersmen being thrown out windows. I have to belief he was a part of that.

My money ($0.02) is on Abe Lincoln. Strong and big. Could swing and hold steady a 10 lb axe by the handle.....

rattlsnak 09-07-2012 01:37 PM

Either Jackson or Teddy...

BlueSkyJaunte 09-07-2012 01:38 PM

Taft. No way to hit a vital organ on that guy.

McLovin 09-07-2012 01:40 PM

FDR would go down first, even with the technical advantage you gave him.

There've been a lot of unfit presidents that would be easy targets.

But given your criteria (health during the term of their presidency), William Harrison would also go down early. He basically had fatal pnemonia during his entire, very short (30 day) presidency!

If that's acutally true (and I wouldn't doubt it)...that's BADASS :)

matthew-s 09-07-2012 01:42 PM

Yeah, that is not really a contest. Although it may not be as cut and dry as it seems on face value. To wit:

Ulysses Grant mixed it up in the Mexican American war and the Civil War.

George Washington in his prime was a pretty hard-core outdoorsman.

I suppose Rutherford B. Hayes might have given TR a run for his money (he had a pretty *****in' beard). That has to be worth something?

Yep. Superman wears Teddy Roosevelt pajamas. While campaigning in 1912, Roosevelt was shot in the chest while standing on the podium preparing to give a speech. The shooter was subdued and within a few minutes Roosevelt took the podium again and gave the entire speech.

Teddy Roosevelt. Winner.

Bill Douglas 09-07-2012 01:45 PM

I think Tricky Dicky because he would pull a gun in a knife fight.

Tobra 09-07-2012 01:46 PM

Gerald Ford was an Eagle Scout and almost certainly the best athlete. He was an All American center/linebacker and turned down a pro football contract to go to law school. I don't know that he would have the killer instinct to win in a knife fight, unless he had the right motivation.

How about Teddy and Abe in a UFC fight? Where's Carter in all this?

KFC911 09-07-2012 01:51 PM

Chuck Norris for president...he'd whup every single one of them all at the same time :)

You may not like Carter's politics (I didn't), but I sure wouldn't want to tangle with a Georgia farm boy who graduated from Annapolis...I'm just sayin' :).
