That's awful. Absolutely a parent's worst nightmare. And you're right, no 17 year old should ever have to go through this. Take care of her.

azasadny 09-08-2012 09:55 AM

Thanks, we will pursue this as we know several professional counselors at our church. They know Rebecca and that will help. This is just surreal, it can't be happening...

azasadny 09-08-2012 09:59 AM

Rebecca is going to visit Nathan's family with the family of the boy who was Nathan's best friend. We know the family well and everyone knows everyone else, so new is traveling fast.

This is so terrible in so many dimensions. Heartfelt thoughts for your daughter and Nathan's family.

Find a good psychologist (preferably one that specializes in grief counseling). My best friend died when we were both 20 and I didn't deal with it in a very good manner.

It is the stuff we bottle up that stays with us.

Very sad.

azasadny 09-08-2012 10:44 AM

They found his body in a retention pond. The PD checked everywhere else yesterday and Nathan's mother wanted them to check the water, but the authorities really didn't think they would find anything. In this horrible case, a mother's intuition was painfully correct.

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear this.

Reg 09-08-2012 10:53 AM

Sad to hear this news today. Condolences to all, and may the boy rest in peace.

azasadny 09-08-2012 10:55 AM

Thanks everyone. We are in shock. Becky is with Nathan's family and Becky is taking Dina (our exchange student) on some errands. Or son is taking this hard as he knew Nathan too. I'm playing the drums at church this weekend, so I'll get a counselor scheduled to talk with
Becky. I feel completely helpless and my girl is hurting...

A tragedy like this touches everyone in very different ways. A moment or two with a counselor might be in order for you also. (Said with all due respect)

Terrible news, sorry to hear such a bad outcome.

Condolences to all.

Praying for a happy outcome to a horrific situation. God has you all, Art!

Art, is your town's police department able to investigate this adequately?

Checking Nathan's cell-phone records for the last incoming/ outgoing calls, what time those calls were made, who he talked to, what was said, what Nathan said he was going to do (call a AAA tow truck?), maybe the person heard something in the background?

Hard to think of what to do. I know grieving families appreciate receiving good home-made food, not sure what kind of food though. :(

Sorry Art...please convey my sincerest condolences to your daughter and Nathan's family for us.

Dang. :(

Art,

I am so sorry.

Hold your daughter close and let her know you know she is hurting too.

Prayers to all.

Best

As a parent this is just too sad to wrap my head around. The poor family. Your poor girl. As many have mentioned, supportive councelling is important. So sorry, Art.

syncroid 09-08-2012 11:59 AM

I just read this now. So sorry Art. I'm at a loss for words. Be there for your girl and for the boyfriends family too.

RWebb 09-08-2012 12:02 PM

So sorry to hear this Art. I agree re a professional.

Besides the human family, don't forget the help you Golden can provide her.

Best wishes.

Prayers to you and your family
