SciFi Flicks of the '60's

more specifically, the ones that involve space war type stuff, not monsters in the muck...

I watched a lot of those as a kid and was always disappointed. When 2001 A Space Odyssey hit the big screen in 1967 I was amazed and awed. It is still the best Science Fiction movie of all time. But I always preferred Hard Science Fiction. I am a Trekkie, but it is so full of holes in the plot it is silly.

Forbidden Planet was from 1956. But still, awesome flick.
Logan's Run was from 1976, and again, great post-apocolyptic movie.

Other sci-fi movies from that era:

Fahrenheit 451 (1966)
On the Beach (1959)
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1958) - the granddaddy of all B-flicks!
War of the Worlds (1953)

Not '60, but 1957: The Mysterians -- super cheesy Japanese sci fi.

From the 70's but still pretty cheesy! There is one scene where you could actually see a VW beetle "supporting" the giant spider prop as it "runs" after it's next prey!....a classic for sure!
