Another type of scam?
Or at least a pretty slimy way of bargaining.
I've got an old guitar amp listed on kijiji. I listed it over a week ago, so it's buried way deep by now, and I haven't had any action on it at all. Been meaning to bump it up, but haven't. Anyway, 8:18pm I get this email: would u take 175 fore the marshall amp??? I said sure, when do you want to pick it up? 9:39pm I get this email: I'll give $125 cash. I'm serious and I will show up. Spidey sense is instantly tingling, but still I said I just got an email an hour ago with an offer for $175, if he doesn't show I'll let you know. 9:53pm he writes back: My offer is more than fairy dust and dreaming, it's cash. I reply: Why do I get the feeling you're the same person? In any event, at $125, I'll just keep it. He responds: Not the same person. OK keep it. I think that's just way too much coincidence that 2 people email me within one hour of each other. Maybe I should write him back and tell him I sold it to the first guy! ![]()

You mean he didn't offer to trade you a slightly stained mattress for it? Its not worth my time anymore for the CL's and other places.

Sold a Jeep a while ago.
About ten minutes after posting an ad on craigslist, got a real low-ball offer, which I refused. Guy called back over and over again, but still expected me to drop to his price. When he insisted "I'll bring CASH!" over and over, my response: "Do you think I was hoping to get paid with lolly-pops and pixie sticks?" Finally told him I would donate the Jeep to charity berfore I would sell it to him at any price. That's what it took to shut him up. All kind of whackos out there...... |

Nothing too special, Wolfe - it's an MG50 dfx, probably 8 or 10 years old.
