I once sat at a lunch table with a guy that works in stunts for Disney. That's the best connection I've got.

LOL. ...and speeder knows all the famous people. ...or the people who mop the famous people's floors.

Anyway, to the OP, yeah I am related to some famous people. But I don't want to say because they're speeders best friends. . . ...of someone he met one time. ..maybe.

I've met Jack Olsen.

Okay, so Denis wins this round.

My brother is said to be the best guitarist in the area, according to the guy who reviews music for the local paper. He has a cool car too, two cool cars and two cool motorcycles really. My cousin looks just like John Lennon, does that count.

I know a guy who has met Johnny Depp.

That is all I have, poor immigrants on one side of the family, less poor immigrants on the other.

That is my Spanish side story, except there was some some coinage involved after they got here. The Spanish on my Mom's side were excellent business folks.

The Scots side claims Mungo Park but there may be a bit of wishful thinking, and the fog of Scotch, involved with Mungo. The Scots were also poor getting off the boat but, unlike the Spanish, managed to avoid discernible accomplishment until my Grandfather changed the family path.

My kids, however, given my wife's family history in Maryland and Virginia, are linked directly with some interesting folks, Stonewall, at least in my mind, the most interesting.

Played tennis with James Garner at a pro ski race Bear mtn, CA, he was a good tennis player and we won our match.

Way down on the family tree, King Ludwig, the crazy Bavarian.

Elvis was mom's cousin. I didn't get to meet him before he passed unfortunately.
Oddly enough my son was born on his birthday.

Interesting. AL is apparently my 16th cousin on my maternal side (natives of Kentucky and Illinois), but I have yet to see any documents that support this.

This is definitely cool. This thread is a little odd, the OP asks if anyone is related to someone famous and then gives his example of getting a haircut from someone whose wife's cousin's dog groomer once saw Regis Philibin in an airport.

You cannot go through life w/o at least brushing past famous people unless you live in a cave. I got Mohammed Ali's and Rod Carew's autograph by the time I was a teenager living in Minnesota.

James Dean via grandmother on my mom's side. Our family farm is just right down the road from where he grew up. Don't get up there much, decided I like salt water better than corn and soy beans.

cstreit 10-09-2012 11:32 AM

Distant ancestor was married to Robert the Bruce.
