I'm surprised that the TV feed is more up to date than the internet feed.
Sure is a great picture in HD. |
Looks like the live feed server crashed.
|
Manned balloon flight record is his.
|
It would be better if Evel Knievel had done this.
|
Getting ready to "step off"...
KT |
Wasn't it like -51F at some time outside ? And now it's 14.1F, getting closer to the sun?!
He's going to be at 128,000 feet + changed also, WOW |
He's at a float level, should stay pretty level now. Door open!
|
****s about to get real boys......
|
He's got some adrenaline going!

Dude came out of that high speed spin pretty well! I'm sure his large attachments helps straighten him out. Dang!
Did he go supersonic? I heard 721mph?! |
chute open!
|
So the old guy still has the free fall record?? 4:30 vs. 4:19
|
Very cool to watch live!
|
Boys got some cojones. Very exciting to watch live. Good for him.
|
So any rough bets on how much $$$ was dropped on this?
|
That was awesome!
|
That was really cool to see!
|
he stepped off of that platform like I cross the threshold of my front door!!

That was cool. Good to see that there's still some adventure left in our world.

That was really great!
To be honest I was quite surprised how flustered the fellow calling commands was in the critical moments. I'm not saying I would do any better, though! |
If you mean Kittinger, he's the previous record holder and is now 84 years old and knows the degree of danger involved. I was nervous just watching.
Joe Kittinger | Red Bull Stratos |
does anyone know what happened to the capsule ??

They just posted the speed on facebook.
833 mph Mach 1.24 |
How hot did his suit get?
My inner thighs would be a warm and gushy 98.6 due to poo rolling down them! |
I want to see his chest camera footage when he was spinning. How he lived is a miracle.
|
No kidding... I don't think most pilots could have brought a plane out of a flat spin like that.... I thought for sure he was a gonner....
|
I am sure redbull will be putting out a pretty stellar video on this.
Was it just me but when stepped off, it looked like he was shot out of a cannon. |
Gravity is a *****, and the air is mighty thin up there........
|
Another interesting fact. The man suffers from - claustrophobia!
I would have thought, when interviewing for that job, THAT just might have been a job killer? Apparently not? A feed I watched talked about how during training, he walked away for several weeks, apparently to reconsider and evaluate his own ability. That was similar to watching the first step on the moon for me. Loved it! PS - As he stood on the platform he made a statement that seemed garbled to me and I could not understand. The only part I got was at the end; "I'm coming home now." Does anyone know where we can read his entire statement? |
He said...you have to be very high to realize how small you are.
