Guy jumping from space -- live feed
Felix Baumgartner is making the jump in a space suit, helmet and parachute. He's being ballooned 23 miles up, where he'll begin the jump.
Baumgartner, who is being sponsored by Red Bull, could be the first human being to break the sound barrier without the assistance of a mechanical device like an airplane or spacecraft. Because the air is so thin at that altitude, 40 seconds into the jump he should hit 690 miles an hour. Bummer.... I've been following this closely for years. Cannot wait to see the videos of the jump, when it happens. Forecast is not looking good for a few days. They really need sub-3MPH winds, which is tough. The balloon is something like 3 times as large as any balloon ever used to loft people. Watching the live feed, it really looks difficult to manage. I wish them good luck. Good thing they have Red Bull's big money behind them

I wonder how much time he has allotted to leave the capsule and stand there, taking in the view. Geez, as much fun as the jump would be, it would be hard to tear your eyes off of that.

__________________________ Launch Aborted Today, the launch of the Red Bull Stratos capsule had to be stopped at 11:42 a.m. local time in Roswell, New Mexico just before Felix Baumgartner's giant 30 million cubic foot balloon had been fully inflated and made ready for take off. From early morning the team postponed the launch due to strong winds at 700 feet - the balloon's top - waiting for the right weather window to open. The launch was scheduled for 11:40 a.m., the balloon inflation had begun, and then gusty winds picked up and made a launch impossible.
