911 door handle/ lock problem

Sorry. Didn't know where to post this. 1975 911 Targa. Driverside door. Whenever I enter the pull up style door lock falls slightly and locks. Any idea what is worn or broken here?

If the pull-up piece on the sill is just falling without any pressure being put on it, then yes, it's likely the latch which is the problem, as that's where the tension comes from. Though it's possible the problem is elsewhere. First thing to do is pull off the door panel and have a look around. If you do have to replace the latch, it's no fun. Cheap, but a PITA.

Definite PITA if you have to remove it completely.

But, many of the lock's components snap together like throttle linkage. There are some white plastic/vinyl clips that can become brittle and fail. I believe I ordered them from Pelican and might even have an extra if they are NLA. Lemme know.
