Wink Today's little adventure: playing with 962's

One of our fellow Pelican's, Jim Richard has been fixing up a retirement place here on the West Coast and I had suggested awhile back that we get together. I enjoy meeting Pelican's. He's a bit down South from me and with gas prices through the roof at the moment, driving what would probably have amounted to 5 hours round trip, wasn't very appealing. Especially since we would only have a few hours together. While looking at a map of where he was, I noticed that a certain warehouse was about halfway between us. I suggested that we meet at Pelican Parts, take a look at the new facilities and maybe see some certain cars. I got a hold of Wayne and he was cool with us coming down (or up). Unfortunately, he was not around today - would have been nice to see you again, Wayne! The very capable, Scott, took us around instead. Clean place and a lot bigger than the old warehouse.

After a quick tour of the warehouse, we were blindfolded, gagged and tossed into a black van and driven to a secure location. Once inside and released, we got to see these:

Thank you once again, Wayne! Scott, you as well! Thank you for taking a small piece of your day and showing us around. Very much appreciated! I didn't realize I was such the PP celebrity.

Unreal! Thanks for the story & photos Dave. I agree kudos to Scott and Wayne for maintaining some of our racing heritage...those are some amazing race cars!

Nice assortment of angles and closeups - never tire of gawking at these machines!

Hey Dave - wouldn't mind seeing a shot of the black tub if you have one you could post as well.

Thanks, Baz

It was a Suburban. But, he has the Boxster conversion and last I knew, a 996. Then there's the RS clone, 914/6, both in the pics, the 959, and ..... (on and on).

My wife and I had a great time, meeting slodave and getting to see Wayne's world. Thanks to Scott for showing us around, and the lunch recommendation.

FYI: If I can't get a better pic of that black tub - a larger pic of your Avatar wouldn't be a bad second choice Jim...after all....it IS Oktoberfest...

It is good to see our PP bucks spent go to a good cause! (Wayne could be into yachts or golf ... )

That was the original plan, but our son talked us into moving closer to him. Portland would've been an excellent choice, too.

Baz, that avatar isn't too bad, eh?

So what is the current tally on Wayne's stable? I remember the first black 959, and then was stunned by the first (Yoko?) 962. But I see 4? or 5? 962's in those pictures, and 2 935's. Is that right? What else? Holy cats, that has turned into quite the collection!!
