I've used these guys, based out of Newbury Park. They get it there safe and on time, but it's usually a last minute panic shipment for the studios, so not quite sure how the cost will weigh against some of the smaller carriers.. Home | Beavexpedite

Welcome to Forward Air Home Page I've only picked up/dropped off at their warehouse, so not sure about home delivery prices.

Engines Direct - I called and talked to Kevin Schultz at 1 800 998 2100.r web page Engines Direct: 800.998.2100

I shopped a lot, best price. They picked up a 911 engine at a private residence in San Diego and delivered to a warehouse in Seattle. $240 in about 4 days....

I use a freight service which checks multiple freight lines. For an LTL shipment this seems to be the least expensive way to go. Sent you a PM

Thx a million! FWIW, it can be dropped at a terminal and shipped to a business.

Might be worth calling Yellowfreight or Greyhound.
Might be too big though.

Did a pair of trannys on one pallet coast to coast on Yellow for about 200. Warehouse is in Carson. Pallet is OK but a tamper proof crate is better. And if you put a frame around it, make sure it is stout because they will stack on top.

At least cover it with shrink wrap if on a pallet or in an open crate. There are fools out there that will steel the dipstick or pour Coke in the valve cover. Not always, but you're dealing with a bunch of animals.

Forward air is probably the best out there, but they only go terminal to terminal.

Denis, the offer still stands. Zip Codes at both ends, lift gate at either end, weight of the engine.

James, I never received a PM so I'm not sure what the offer is. I'm going to try to get it weighed tomorrow somehow. It's a MB diesel engine w/ auto transmission attached.

I sent an email from the board.

Zip code from and to, weight and whether you need a liftgate at either end. I'll run the numbers with our guys (they run multiple LTL checks). Then I'll hook you up with them. They are out of escondido.

I'll buy an old truck out there. You load up your engine/trans and drive it out here

My next decision is how to palletize it. I can either build one or take it to a place that does it but I need to know what I need either way. I'm definitely thinking of just a strong pallet on the bottom and shrink-wrapping it so that nothing can be stacked on top of it.

Otherwise it would have to be a very strong crate. Asking the brain trust. TIA.

Looks like this:
