my 16 year old flashlight finally broke..be needing a replacement.
it was a Streamlight polystinger. non LED. changed the battery once the entire time. maybe the third bulb. amazing light.
well, i need a replacement. i use this light nightly to run my dog out for night pees. night walks, bump in the night...my polystinger saw it all. i wore the rubber thru on the button. maybe water got in. well it is dead. i need bright as the sun..rechargable..decent run times..and all for around $120..any suggestions? the new stingers dont have such great reviews online.

From Costco I got a 3 pack of Cree LED flashlights, 12.00 they are black anodized.
they run on 3 AAA batteries will last about 4 hours on the low setting, also has a high set and a rapid flash set to use for startling. Brightest flashlight I have ever owned, will light up the racoons at 200 feet. Dimensions are about 5 inches long and 1 inch diameter.

Vash, if I had this same question do you know who I would ask? You! I thought you were some sort of flashlight guru?
That being said, I love my surefire though cannot comment on their rechargeable, as mine takes (expensive) batteries.

Sorry for your loss.
I've had my 3D Mag lite for probably 25 years. Misplaced it once and wanted to put up "Lost" signs on telephone poles. |

Not rechargable but I could drive by it's light!
Cost around $120, IIRC...A Huston cop on the Bullitt Mustang board plugged it.
Do NOT look into it when set at it's brightest setting...Fenix TK60 LED. How they get that much light out of a single LED, I haven't a clue. got mine from Bright Flashlights | LED Flashlight |UV | Dive | Underwater here's info in the TK 60 http://www.brightguy.com/Fenix/Fenix+TK60+High+Performance+Flashlight TK60 is 800 Lumens...if you don't mind dropping a bit, Fenix makes a rechargable that puts out 620 lumens. Might be what you're looking for? http://www.brightguy.com/Fenix/Fenix+TK22+Tactical+LED+Flashlight

Vash, I have been using am import drop in for my Surefire G2.
Solar Force LC-XPG Cree R5 Single Mode Drop-In I was so happy with their product that I purchased 6 more of their hosthttp://www.lighthound.com/Solar-Force-L2P-Flashlight-Host-for-18650--L2P-Host-HA-III-Black-Finish_p_3473.html. I don't like the sharp crenelated bezel so I bought the smooth one for 2 bucks. They run on CR 123 rechargable. Its small like the G2, and fit in the back pocket nicely but the light out put is huge. I had Super Stingers and they were too expansive to lose so I have a bunch of those now. the one thing I like about their light is the simple on / off. One single setting, unless you purchase the three setting drop ins. There is nothing to turn or hold to keep the light on. click on/off, simple. Switches are replaceable for a few bucks. the draw back is the run time, only 45 min. so I have off the shelf 123 batteries in the car for back up. |

DITTO ON THIS 3 PACK. (mine was $20, you sure yours was $12?) I bought a 3 pack, and after having a "I can see the light-gasm" at home, went back the next day and bought 3 more for a total of 12 flashlights. Stunning bright at 200 honest lumens (and I'm a scuba diver who KILLS for bright lights underwater in the murky depths) For dive lights I have 600 lumen and 850 lumen that were $200 each. For 3 of these Costco Flashlites for $20, I put one in every car/trailer/truck-camper hung one by every door in the house and out in the barn. You simply can't beat this as a $7 each flashlite that runs on common AAA batteries. I double dog dare you to stare into in on high setting, and yes it'll light up the top of a 120 foot doug fir tree stunningly well..........can't make more of an endorsement from a light hungry scuba diver than this.......pretty cool they have a strobe feature on them too that I used to scare the crap out of kids on Halloween night. They're Not on the Costco Website, bought mine about 3 weeks ago and have given half of mine away to Mom and Friends as a "here you really need one of these" gifts... Sorry for the long soapbox rave about them, but yes they're that good. I'd go back and buy another 3-4 packages of them for more stocking stuffer / gifts, but I already bought out their last 3! Heck it even comes with 9 duracell batteries, those would be ~$7-8 on thier own. Found 'em on the web for double Costco's Price: http://www.buy.com/prod/techlite-lumen-master-200-lumens-high-intensity-cree-xpg-l-e-d/235017337.html Pic of the package, have your local Costco check the SKU. ![]() ![]()

Oh Vash, they are much brighter then your plastic stingers and are very well built. Its more of a tool and these are not toys.

I bought a two pack of lights at SAMs that look identical to those. I've rattled mine around in vehicle, back packs, etc and it still works great and yes they are super bright.... Fwiw, Cree is one of the top tier LED manufacturers. Only better is nichia. We use Cree LEDs on some of our budget displays, they last nicely. |

Costco ^^^^ yep thats them,
regular 20.00 but I found them on sale 12.00 on a weekend sale at Costco in Denver I figured what the heck I had just spent 39.00 at Cabelas for a Cree flashlight that used 2 AA batteries, It was pretty darn bright, the Costco lights are brighter, the flashing strobe will make you dizzy if you look at it longer than a few seconds. This one case where less is quite a bit more, a 120.00 flashlight wont be brighter than this 7.00 dollar unit..
