Congratulations on the new job. As several others have said, just pay it forward.

Even though it seems to often more often than not, I'm always amazed how various situations get resolved with a better outcome then the initial status quo.

BTW, what are we talking about? Some secret?

I only know about Secret Elves and stuff but do as Todd says and enjoy.

Yesterday was the Christmasiest I've felt all season! What a great group! Makes me proud to have been wasting time here for over a decade!

One more pic... pretty sure Thuy had something in her eye when I took this one!

Had to chuckle... she pulled in right in front of me in the parking lot and I waved and so on and she just looked elsewhere. Finally rolled the window down and yelled at her. Seems that she was expecting me in the 911 and a big dodge pickup did not fit the mold!

Did not tell her that the presents were so large and numerous that they would not fit in the 911 until after lunch! Was afraid she would run the other way! :) The one in the pic is a cardboard playhouse for the boys.

I would lose my house but I would ALWAYS be able to feed my boys and put a roof over their heads. But my head was always going. Thinking, thinking, thinking. And today, for the first time since I was laid off, I felt "quiet". Like I could finally rest.

Interesting in that I doubt anyone who has ever read a post by you ever questioned you would find renewed success.

You are a fine young woman, resonate with "that certain something" and a toughness that has and will serve you well.

You have an interesting story to tell your young sons, one I will tell mine.

Best.

I totally understand the "quiet" thing. Early in my career, getting laid off, just bought your first house with a bit of a stretch financially, then looking at finances, imagining yourself on the street, then after a while, you get a solid job offer that starts in a week or two. All of a sudden this "calm" envelopes you with a realization that everything is going to be OK. Happy Holidays everyone.

Thought you guys would enjoy this. The boys found the boxes and bubble wrap the presents came in. Spent an hour and a half driving me nuts laying the bubble wrap on the kitchen tile and jumping on it over and over. And then came the boxes! Who needs the toys that came in them? The giggles and laughter of children... Seem even happier during Christmas. Hold all your little ones close to your hearts.

Tweeze, this thread just is the epitome of OT. I remember your first thread in technical worrying about being "eaten alive" by the guys. I think you are officially one of the guys now. Actually you were one of us from the first post, you just did not know it. :).

So nice, Glen. Seemed like such a silly thought... Joining. To learn about a car. Oh how wrong I was. You guys have changed my life in more ways than you know!

Took the boys to see Santa today. They look so handsome... And it's because they are dressed head to toe in clothes sent from Shaun. Love the clothes, Shaun! I am a customer for life!

What a handsome couple of gentlemen! but don't thank just me, Mark (Buckterrier) deserves the credit. We'll get you some things for Spring in February, the boys should be sporting something like this. Got to start them young. :)

Buying gifts for young boys was a "no-brainer" for me. I mean, as kids we all loved firecrackers and BB guns. And who here can say they never dreamed of having a Boa Constrictor as their very own pet?

vash 12-17-2012 04:17 PM

you're just gonna give her a heart attack..haha..

a boa? god i hope she got a drum set!! rat a tat tat!

Christien 12-17-2012 04:17 PM

Shaun, if you do one of those in men's sizes, please put me down for one!

i am so glad you said it.!! (me too!...XL please)

Shaun @ Tru6 12-17-2012 04:20 PM

Chris, I ran these for men here on OT last summer, I think I have 2-3 shirts left. Send me a note with your size, if I have one, I'll send it up.

I have been wanting to do father-son shirt sets, probably for Spring 14.

Cliff, I'll see if I have an XL too.
