The isle of Man participants have got to have the biggest balls in all of motorsport especially the guys who are passengers!




I would imagine the top speed on the TT in places is higher than MotoGP.

I know what race I will be watching this weekend. The GP in Austin. Looks like it will be fantastic.

I would think they wouldn't have any.

That said, NASCAR top speed during races is actually 215MPH+

Daytona, they tried to limit the HP to keep the cars around 200MPH though, so the fastest track, doesn't have the fastest top speed. No restrictor, and 220MPH LAPS(not top speed) is easily possible on the super speed ways(Talledega and Daytona).

The two sports, have very different key elements, as the amount of downforce between the two is very drastic. The cars in F1, run setups that can really eat tires if driven over the limit, so most top F1 drivers, are not really pushing things.

NASCAR, they tend to "test" the limits, but spend a lot of their laps keeping the car together - the race length is often twice as long as a F1 race. As it gets to the end though, most of 'em go all out, for sustained periods. F1 drivers, rarely go all out for more than a few seconds.

I prefer NASCAR for racing, but its hard to follow on TV. In person, or streaming a team's radio and cameras is my preferred method. Sometimes, a race like Phoenix last week, is better watched on Telly.

Cool. I've been wondering about some of the differences between the two cars, and I've had various folks ask about things like cost and top speed.

I remember years ago when Schumacher was the big man, an article came out saying that Ferrari had spent $4million working on improving the aero for his helmet so it would help the airflow into the snorkel over his head.

How much are those steering wheels worth? I know it's a bunch.

I honestly have tried to watch (and care about) formula one racing and just can't seem to embrace the unrecognizable cars, the pompous foreign drivers with big egos, or the sheer amount of money thrown at the sport.

I do watch NASCAR now and then, and can relate to the hillbilly Southern background, along with the sweet sound of an 850 HP V8 turning 9500 RPM, and the truly approachable demeaner of most drivers in the pits.

I enjoy F1 for the outright lunacy of the technology, the drive to go faster cost be damned. F1 innovations actually do trickle down to real cars, while NASCAR just recently adopted fuel injection. If I want to watch circle track racing I'll head to my local dirt oval when they have sprint cars, it's a much better show and I can take my kids on the track at intermission to see the cars and get autographs. Tickets are $8, a beer is $2. Much more my speed. I've been to one NASCAR event, I got bored and left after 20 laps.

I guess I am just an old fart. I never liked NASCAR. I used to love F1. Every October at The Glen back in the 70's. Like Woodstock every year. It's a circus now, like the Daytona 24. Ferris wheels? GTFO!

I like the Australian version of Nascar...V8 supercars. Nascar can be fun, but it's kinda like watching an NBA game...just tune in for the last 5 minutes to see the action.

I don't watch every NASCAR race, and tend to agree with alot of people about it being boring. There are way too many 1.5 oval tracks in the schedule, I really only like the small bullrings and the road course venues. I did hear that the NASCAR Nationwide series will come to Mid-Ohio road course next year instead of Toronto.....might actually go to this one, it's only 50 miles away.
