Not a Toto you would have to flush more then once.

Which one do you have? One piece? If you have the standard Ultra max, not the low tank one, they flush better due to the fact that the water is sitting higher so the flushing is a little stronger. Go and impress her and she may say you longer have to discuss your annual hunting trip for the next three years.

When it comes to low flow gravity flush or split flush TOTO is the choice.

Why yes, I am a plumber.

i dont remember. but it is two piece. my wife liked the more traditional look of a two piece. it is not the low profile one.

Went through multiple Am.Standard toilets.... Found this site and swapped to Totos about 6 years ago: Terry Love's Consumer toilet reports, a report and reviews on toilets

We have never used a plunger with a Toto.

Ha. The same site where I learned about Toto. When I was looking I searched for one flush toilets. The Toto Drake that we have is truly a one flush (even though it's a two piece). The Room Monkey has clogged every toilet we have ever had - but not this one.

The Drake is a handicap toilet. The seat is a little higher then most. They flush a little better. Nothing wrong with a 2 piece, it eliminate the risk of leakage in that rubber seal between tank and bowl. Is not it, but when. they more you lean on the tank, they more they will likely leak sooner.

Well, I make sure my clients get the best product for their money. My job is to make sure they understand what they are getting and why. 99% of them listen and make good decision based on our advice. I am just a dumb general contractor.

I wouldn't buy one. parts are a big pain in the ass but no issues really. They work pretty wwell. I was chatting with their rep at the Kitchen and bath industry show in Vegas a few years ago. They want a lot of money for their fixtures. I didn't think it was worth it. Many people don't know their products, and they sell an Eskimo ice.

No. You are thinking of the SL ADA version. The Drake I bought is 14 5/8 high rather than the 17-19" perches on the high boys which are 'in fashion' & which seemed ridiculous to me.

randy..all these years, and i still get creeped out from your avatar..ahhahaha

thanks Look..so two piece toilets will eventually leak? no big deal. seems like an easy seal to change.

my MIL got some American Standard. i think the tank needs to come off to change the flush mechanism. it has a flapper like none i have ever seen. perplexing..it is like 4" in diameter.

yeah, 20 years later then they leak. 3 bucks to replace the rubber seal. One thing I forgot to mention to you. Do not use the over the counter bar / cleaner that you drop into the tank. I don't even know what those things are call. They use to be blue and it turns the water blue in the bowl. It eats up the plastic and you will be changing float mechanism sooner then you think.

When I moved into this house 7 years ago there were expensive, fancy looking low head toilets that were totally worthless. Three flushes wouldn't get it done. I installed two Gerber Ultra-flush (one of Terry Love's favorites) for about $300 ea and it is the best upgrade I have done to the house. They will flush a 10lb poodle on the first try (don't ask) and because they are pressure assist the high velocity flush cleans the bowl well. The down side is they sound like a high velocity commercial toilet so they do make more noise. To me the excellent 1.6g flush and rinse is totally worth it.

I cannot compare these to a Toto because I have not owned one but 7 years without a second flush, clog, or repair of any kind is pretty good service.
