Dual Flush conversions?
Question out to you toilet experts, and I hope to keep this out of parf...
I have manfield units in my house, and I am attempting to install a flushmaster dual flush kit in one, and it seems that regardless of how I adjust it, it seems to always do a full flush. Sometimes it will do a partial flush, but that seems random. Am I doing something wrong, or did I just buy a crap kit, and I should just replace the toilet with a newer unit with the dual flush built in? TIA! |
Dual flush? Why would want to save siht along with TP in your pipes? Buy a TOTO and be donw with it. Spend a few bucks and you will be happy. Your pipes will thank you.

I have installed two different dual flush units in toilets at my house and they both failed to perform reliably. I followed instructions to the letter then tinkered with them and they still never worked right. Even after a friend who is a plumber by trade gave it a shot they didn't work right. The plumber friend said that as a rule he did not install them for clients due to their unreliable nature.

I wouldn't install one in my client's home. Not worth keeping siht around. there is so little water in the low flush mode, why would any body want to save water to save crap. I think it only flushes some of the pee.

This thread stinks.

It would seem fitting. ;)

The plumbers at my work say those water urinals allow the pee (uric acid) to sit in 60 year old piping and corrode them really fast. With a partial or full flush toilet, you at least get some water going through the pipes however. Something to think about.

my friend put one in. i swear my Pee had more volume. not so sure he ever got it to work out.
my Toto is uncloggable. and it is low flow. i dont know if it is intentional, but if you hold the lever down on my toto, all low-flow bets are off. it is like the Poseidon adventure. it would flush a hamster treading water. (i've heard) |
Go to a House restoration place and buy one of the old 6 gal. old school full flush toilets Never have a clogged drain again. Nothing sends **** down the pipe like a full 6 gal. flush! Of course I live where water is not a problem, as I just pump it out of our well. Hell when put in, they would pump 50 gal. a minute and could not pump it dry. Guy said I will never run out of water! I have left it on running a garden hose for 10 days in a row to fill my ice rink, and have never had a issue with it.

a plumber told me that old toilets usually have deposits that constrict the flow

the other reason the Toto is a good toilet is that the trap way is glazed all the way through (nothing sticks to it), where most other brands are not. St Thomas is also a good toilet. I am done talking siht.:) |

what is the cheapest good toto or other brand?
|
Low flow toilets crack me up. Best case you just have to flush 2-3 times to evacuate the poo, when one flush from a good toilet would have done it with the same or less water. But on the upside, I bet the plunger companies love them.

In other words, what makes a toilet work is large ports and high flowing heads :).

It is the way of the world, nothin' beats a good head job.
Don't even get me started about low flow shower heads. |
