MES 944 my uncle was a LT in 4-42 FA in Vietnam. I'm not sure of the time though, but I think it was around the same time. His last name was Geis.

MES 944, he was an FO and a battery XO. I was thinking it was Bravo Battery, but I would not trust my memory. However, I'm thinking he was over there around that time. I remember flying to DC with him after got out of the Army and I think I was around 4 or 5 so that would have been around 1966 or 1967. So after thinking more about it he probably left befor you got there. My first- first sergeant in the Army was in 4-42 FA; he was a CPL and possably a SGT, howitzer section chief his name was James Smith, he may have been the one in Bravo Battery. It was hard to beleive both my uncle and the 1SG were in the same unit in Vietnam but I think they were in at different times. Smith is a pretty common name and my uncle could not remember if he was in the unit at the same time. By the time I found out what unit my uncle was in the 1SG had retired.
It's nice talking to a fellow Artilleryman, I'm a CSM of the airborne artillery battalion in the 173d Airborne Brigade. Thanks for your service!!!

Amen and Merry Christmas to all that went. I wasn't there but on active duty at the time. Had many friends go and some not return. Thanks to all!
