Music Websites / Question
Hey guys, I want to build my own music library and am looking to download - but there sooooooo many free and pay sites it is hard to choose. Obviously free is better
My stockpile would then transfer over to an MP3 player. I have not yet choosen one of those either. Has someone here recently rowed in this same boat? 'Sound' advice please on how to move forward

No iTunes for me.
Borrow or order in any CD you want from a local library - RIP to highest quality MP3. Any youtuby vid can be downloaded, extract the audio to mp3. A few extra steps and a little harder to find quality uploads.

Use the newsgroups and a news reader like Usenet Explorer on GigaNews or other service. Groups like alt.binaries.sounds.mp3....... will have everything you will ever want including music videos.

Hit the local used CD stores and rip at high quality. Store original media somewhere to keep legal on them. For new stuff, or stuff you can't find on CD, either buckle down to the *AAs and just use iTunes, etc. or learn to do it free.

Check out rhapsody.com. One of our local pelicans just started working there. You can listen to just about any song online, or download them to your phone/computer/whatever.
There is a monthly subscription fee, but if you expect to build a good size library it would be worth it.
