how to profit in CO and WA?
Anyone else wondering how to legitimately profit on legal marijuana sales in CO and WA? There has to be a way to make a good wage on those situations. I've heard that most banks and credit card companies want nothing to do with it for fear of federal issues.

All you hear on the news here is that the owners of the current medical MJ places don't make any money. Yet, there are plenty of them around.

Bob, that could create serious issues for you if the wrong parties took an interest in that situation.
There is always a way to make money selling something people want.

One of my friends, who is a member here has been a legal grower for a while.
He didn't want it to pass as then corporations come in & put all the small guys out of biz, and he doesn't even use the product..

There is actually a company out there, i forget the name, that is marketing pot vending machines.
There was an article about this exact topic in Business Week or one of those mags shortly after the elections.

Its done man. Ethan Nadelmann: Parsing Obama's Words on Legalizing Marijuana Here in WA, it will be a 100% state run enterprise at first, with state stores selling it. Much like the past when we had state run liquor stores. Private enterprise will get their 'in' on the state side. WA state has no interest in farming MJ, and private suppliers can do that far more efficiently. MJ is a lot like the wine industry. I would not at all be surprised to see the wine industry here in WA make in roads to selling MJ to WA. CO is totally different..

My take on that interview was not as optimistic, he was vague as usual. My neighbor lost his job last March when they closed all the State liquor stores, I hope this can benifit him. He was a manager, funny, I asked him about this very subject about 5 years ago & he laughed & scoffed at the idea of the state ever getting into the business of selling marijuana.

Mail-order service to WA addresses? (maybe drop-ship?)
Combined with doing reviews on a dedicated website And a non-profit business for ending world hunger? Nah, that would never work.... *cough* _ |

washington has not decided on how to go forward, they have a year to set this up. They are leaning on having a lottery to pick growers and distributers state stores will sell. the government will add a 25% tax on each step (grow, distribute, sales) thinking of around $12 per gram as the retail level.

You fully understand The Feds can seize your property, right? The drug laws are seriously crazy.

Yep, they are playing you for a chump. When the sh-t hits the fan, they will immediately claim it's yours, and you will lose everything.
I would wait until they are away somewhere.... then take good quality pictures of everything, and then dump all the plants (including roots and clumps of dirt) in a pile on the driveway, take a picture of the pile, then pour enough gasoline on it, and light a match. When the fire is done, take a picture of the pile of ashes. End of problem. You might need the pictures to show the constables, to show there was "more than 5 plants." Right now, you are at risk of losing everything. Compared to that, risking the ire of some punks is much better. _ |

A couple years ago the young CFP/broker who worked with my old broker at Morgan Stanley in Orange County, CA, left for...greener pastures ![]() About a year and a half ago, the city of San Diego made a big stink that they were calling in the Feds to rid their, verrry conservative, city of mm pharmacies. All that transpired was that those businesses that were breaking local zoning laws, being too close to schools, etc. had to close or relocate. I don't believe the Feds ever got involved and mm pharmacies continue to thrive county wide, many of them foregoing brick and mortar stores and doing all their business over the phone as described above.

When is their lease up Bob? Take pictures and kick their asses to the curb when the lease is up. Maybe give the tenant a ten day letter. Certainly using your property to commit a felony violates the lease.
IF they are good tenants, they may be reasonable about it, can't know until you broach the subject.
