In a society where you can slow 4 lanes of traffic down for a mile all because of a motorist changing a flat tire while a highway patrol car is parked behind it it is no wonder a story like this sells AD space.

that's ridiculous, way to go for making something out of nothing. There are any number of things that are far more important to report on but FOX prefers high ratings for profit as an entertainment based organization.
Thing is - Denny's doesn't have a sign prohibiting guns. BUT it does have a policy about it anyway in their rule book for restaraunt management. Sneaky, it would lull a non gun toting/owning customer like me in a sense of safety, but in reality, they kick anyone out that they see with a gun.

It should be news that they carry out this policy in a hidden manner. If it were posted, then it'd be a non news story. Whether or not they were non uniform police is not that relevant, but it does help the story get around more than if it happened to the average joe.

Around here there are no gunbusters signs in Denny's. But most of them do serve beer and wine, so you need a permit and must keep it concealed. Does not apply to LEO though.

With their stringent hiring practices and the HUGE amount of money Denny's spends on training their assistant managers I am SHOCKED something like this could happen!

Talk about a slow news day

FOX is just one of many of the useless excuses for "news" that people gobble up as truth or worthy news sources. It just happened to be the one mentioned by the original post and the one mentioned in the article that the link takes you to.
My comment is based on that alone and not some deeper motive of political affiliation etc. TV based news media and true journalism aren't even distant cousins any longer, its not about actual reporting or quality. Ratings, ratings, ratings, to sell ad space is all that seems to drive the current offerings. Sad but true.

Getting real news and good journalism from TV is as likely as getting Herpes by saying hello to a nun.

That actually happened to a friend of mine up in Portland. Except he was in uniform. He went to a coffee shop and they asked him to leave because he was armed......he left.

Tell me Joe, which of my comments were dis-proven?? I'm not trying to get this pushed to PARF, just pointing out some obvious lack of reporting and how the OP continues that.

Just look at the title of this thread "Crooks can now take Denny's..." That isn't more or less true than before all of this. As far as a robbery goes, is anything different for Denny's now than before the incident? The CO said his guys couldn't eat there while on duty, not that they couldn't respond to a 911 call.

"...no cops allowed" From either side of the story, this isn't true. The CO has not banned cops completely from Denny's, otherwise he would have said they couldn't go there for a 911 call. Denny's certainly hasn't outlawed cops, nor have they ever.

This does seem like a case of one manager not really understanding the rules or interperting things thier own way. But this does happen in some cases. Years ago when I was working in a "high crime area" there was a resturant that did not want cops to eat there and would not try to hide it everytime you walked in there to eat they would say embarassing things to make it an uncomfortable experience. There were not many places to eat in that area so if they had not tried so hard to keep cops out there would have been a steady stream of cops in and out all day. But needless to say we all avoided that place. But to our great pleasure one afternoon we get a call for a holdup at guess where when we arrived the manager and employees had been tied up in the back and all of the money was gone from the register as well as all of the employees personal items and money. I guess what goes aroun comes around
