Winner, I read it a while back, I recieved it in a email and wanted to share it. I figured it would get some attention around here.

I'm having this one done in 5 days... (I'm pretty scared I have to say.. but I can't afford to have more bambinos)

When I got snipped, they put me out.
Something about one of my tubes tucked way up there and would require pulling and tugging.

So I didn't feel or see a thing.

May be time to give up sex after reading this thread...

FLYGEEZER 01-04-2013 08:34 AM

Ain't gonna happen to me in this lifetime. After the snip.. chances of prostate & testicular cancer increase about 70%. I'm still playin' with a loaded gun and it's gonna stay that way. Ya can't get nocked up by spit anyway.

ZOA NOM 01-04-2013 08:42 AM

That's nothin, I had it done... TWICE!

My lovely daughter was born on April Fool's Day in between. :)

Don Plumley 01-04-2013 08:47 AM

I was out having another procedure done so I was out, seems like I'm happy that's the way it was done.

It's a bit of a funny story, once I realized I'd be out I started calling urologists and asked, "are you available next Wednesday at 8AM? Great. I'll be the guy asleep on the table, have at it."

Next Thursday it's my turn, not looking forward to it. I HATE this kinda stuff.....

Had a weird dream about it last night too.

What good is an unloaded gun? Seriously, if I have to sire a child when I'm 90 with a 23 year old, I want to be able to perform my duty.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Your duty as a man is to raise your children. Any idiot can create them.

Aggie93 01-04-2013 09:50 AM

To anyone getting it done, make sure you have a jockstrap and a bunch of tighty whiteys. I stayed in bed with an icepack for the day of and the day after. Then painted the basement without problems.

When it started, I had plans to prop myself up and watch. I changed my mind, but was talking to the dr and nurse throughout it.

Now that I have learned that the OP was a copy / paste from Craigslist and not his account of events we can discuss vasectomies in general. (Comes up every year like clockwork).

Doug's example is extreme. But I am with him on this one. I know more than one guy without bullets that ended up divorced and with a younger wife that wanted a family. That's NOT fun! If you are in your mid to late 40s and have a 10 year younger partner, you can still raise a couple kids just fine.

I have seen women talk about vasectomies and their viewpoints haven't sold me on the idea either. It isn't all about hopping in the sack without worries, to say the least. It'd be great to get a couple of our PPOT women to chime in - can someone PM them. ;)

Thought I was going to puke after the instrument went 'click'...man-o-man that hurt...both sides. Getting me to have it done it again with that guy would be a tough sell.

fintstone 01-04-2013 11:00 AM

My level of discomfort was about that of a teeth cleaning or giving blood. Certainly not as bad as getting a filling.
The benefits have been spectacular.

PetrolBlueSC 01-04-2013 11:08 AM

Are we done yet?

Ask around before you make your appointment.

I don't remember any of the prep being all that difficult. At the beginning, the Dr. explained that he would be giving me a local anesthetic (shots) before starting the procedure. After lots of clicking, tugging, pinching, pain and what felt like quite a bit of time, I asked if he had gotten one side done yet. His response was, "No, but I am almost done applying the local". This was my lowest point.

I later described my experience to a neighbor (Drug Rep), she was very sympathetic, and wished that I had asked her for a recommendation about who to have perform the procedure.

My biggest recommendation is to get recommendations from other folks that have had the procedure. There is no reason to go to some of the butchers out there, or to be made to feel like one of many cattle getting processed in the stock yard.

VINMAN 01-04-2013 11:55 AM

Worst part was the initial shot of anesthetic.

On second thought the worst part was when he started and I realized I needed a second shot....

mepstein 01-04-2013 12:12 PM

Got it done today. Pretty much a non event. Shot on each side was uncomfortable for 10 seconds. During the procedure, Doc and I talked skiing and was done after 10 minutes. Cleaned up and drove home. Now just sitting in a big leather chair with ice between my legs and my wife waiting on me. Kids are in their teens and we don't feel the need for more. Life is good. :)

P.S. - My wife is a nurse. She always asks around at work to get my family the best Dr's.
