Looking at this thread is like reading the comment cards from a convalescent home after a new flavor of Jello showed up in the cafeteria.

It is not a stingray - although I do believe the best part of the car is the badging...

Give it any name except that.

This is a Stingray - one of the most beautiful American cars ever built. There is absolutely no homage to this car anywhere on the 2014 model. Every line on this car works -

there isn't a line on this car that works - not one.

I believe this is a Stingray too..

....all Corvettes, all Stingrays, all beautiful sports cars made by Chevrolet. However I'm sure the C7 drives like a sports car and well the C2 more like a truck....and a beautiful one at that!

The C7 is a striking car by any Modern measure...

Oh, the C2 doesn't drive at all like any modern car - you are right there. It drives like hell on wheels. What a stingray should drive like.

There is no way in 50 years we will be looking at the C7 and thinking - wow, what classic lines. It looks like a Nike shoe.

My aunt and uncle bought a new Corvette in 1962 and drove it for about 5-6 years, then sold it to other aunt/uncle, (his sister). It was stolen from their driveway in St. Paul, MN., in the early '70s and never recovered. It was red w/ white scallops and red leather seats. You can just imagine the impact that had on me when I was in short pants.

The original aunt/owner just died 1 week ago at age 77 of Alzheimer's, (very sad), she was a 26 y.o. newlywed when they bought that car. it looked exactly like the photo above from the side, with different front end treatment of course.

Hard to say what folks will be thinking in 50 years and Nike has had a pretty good run in popularity

Agreed on classic lines but maybe on what a fantastic Stingray it was..

Sorry about the loss of your aunt, Denis. I guess the '62 looked kind of like this.

Pictured in this thread are what I consider to be the "big three" as far as 'Vette collecting goes.

The '57 should have had a "fuel injected" emblem on it's fender to be "the" '57.
Yes Virginia, there was a street car with mechanical injection long before Porsche.

Then, the '62...the last year of the Butt pounders...sweet with it's Kamm rear end.

Ahhh, the '67 427 Stingray coupe. Nothing more needs to be said.

The crazy thing...I never had a Corvette. I kind of regret that at this stage of life, but damned if I want to be another white haired guy in a Corvette. Somehow being a white haired guy in a Bullitt Mustang seems okay to me.

MFI was an option in '57, IIRC.

Indeed it was...the first engine in the USA to produce one horsepower for each
of it's 283 cubic inches. It caused quite a stir back then.

Problem was that mechanics then didn't really understand the system,
so many of them got tossed to be replaced with a dual quad manifold.

Later on, the same thing happened to Porsches..MFI tossed and webers
put on.

Nice footage; however, there's still too much fugly going on with that car. It's a shame. I'm sure it's a helluva good car to drive.

Who cares about the new one, let's keep talking about the ones that mattered.

What's wrong with us guys? We like looking at OLD cars and YOUNG women???

Okay, back to the 2014. Aesthetically, I think Corvette has been better. I can't really comment on the performance, tho it'll undoubtably be spectacular.

For you, for a number of reasons. Can you tell me why?

I take it you've seen how Denis drives multitasks.

Best

Evar!

Yes the 67 427 (and C3) are the ultimate American hot rod (IMHO) and I would pick it over this car (and a C2 cost about the same)... but if you handed me the keys to this I would never look back...

YMMV

I'm pretty sure the Kamm rear end, or Kammback is illustrated by the '68 Stingray.
