The breast effect?

I've had some personal experience with this, but I've seen it go with or without the cup size. Recently my wife's friend and I were running errands together and she wanted a coffee. We stopped into a nice bistro to see if we could get a coffee to go. The young man said he needed to make a fresh pot and a few minutes later came out giving my wife's friend the coffee without charge. The woman really has not much going on chest wise, but is still shapely with long blond hair.

I've seen it go the other way to with the cleavage factor. But I think it is more about the shape at either end and or both that creates an effect, not strictly one or the other.

My wife and I joke about the time we were in an airport in Puerto Rico trying to get a flight to the Dominican Republic. It was 2000 and I had a valid passport but she only had her driver's license. The young man at the ticket counter called the Dominican Republic airport and argued for 15 minutes on her behalf. The boob shirts were just coming into fashion and it apparently worked. We boarded the plane and continued our journey. The service was beyond expectations.

IMO, even with the right eye candy, attitude probably plays the deciding factor.

Any experiences like this?


HITCHHIKING

Guéguen created one of three naturalistic experimental conditions (corresponding to three breast sizes) using an average looking female confederate: (1) her actual breast size, which was an A cup (i.e., smaller than the French average); (2) a B cup (the average size in France); (3) a C cup (greater than the average). The breast "augmentations" were performed via the addition of a latex implant.

The female confederate then stood at the side of a road and actually hitch hiked (i.e., put out her thumb as cars whizzed by). Two observers coded the number of male and female drivers that drove by along with the number of times that a given driver stopped to pick up the confederate. For obvious security reasons, once a driver stopped, this was counted as an instance of having picked up the hitchhiker. In other words, the confederate did not actually get into any cars. A male observer also hid close by to ensure against any possible threats to the confederate's security.



Statistically speaking, only men's behaviors were affected by the hitchhiker's breast size (p < .03). The frequency of stopping in the cup C condition was marginally greater than that of cup B (p = 0.09) and significantly greater than that of cup A (p < .01). The difference between cups A and B was not significant.

The bottom line: If a woman has large breasts, men are more likely to engage in prosocial behavior (in this case offering her a ride). I suppose that we could have all predicted this fact albeit it is fun to see it tested in a scientific manner.

Michael Lynn is a professor of consumer behavior and marketing at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, and perhaps the most eminent researcher on tipping behavior. He has explored numerous variables that affect the size of tips left by patrons. In a recent study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, Professor Lynn found a positive correlation between the breast size of waitresses (n = 432) and the size of their tips (both were self-reported measures). He did not split the tipping data by sex of the patrons. One might expect that the "breast effect" might enhance tips for male patrons whereas female patrons might "punish" shapely waitresses (intra-sexual rivalry). The existing data did not allow for a more refined set of analyses to test such possibilities. Also, Lynn notes that he might have expected a quadratic relationship between breast size and size of tips, namely, breasts that are too small or too big would result in lower tips than medium sized breasts. However, his data suggests that bigger is always better...at least when it comes to tipping behavior!

I prefer the company of females that keep their breasts covered. In this "if you got it flaunt it" society, this means from a statistical standpoint I would seem a lot less friendly to most females with larger breast size.

I think I was saying that with my wife's friend (zero up top) she has a figure just as you describe. I think it can be either and definitely both, but the attitude must also play a part.

^^^Me too! I keep telling my wife this but she won't believe me... probably because being Asian she had small ta-ta's growing up and in our boob obsessed society she felt short changed.

About 15 years ago when teaching an introduction to computers class, the students had to visit a local store in their out of class time and come up with a "computer system" to fill certain specs. At that time the computer "geeks" working at Comp USA and other stores were really a pain in the ass so I suggested that the students actually make two trips, one very well dressed and one in sweats and such. I also suggested the ladies try dressing in their "party" outfits to see if it made any difference and what did we find......The party outfits got the best service but were treated like they were dumb, well dressed got good service and were treated well and slobs were generally ignored!

Some of them actually went back later and raised hell but it never mattered I guess!
