'75 Coupe Driver ... Sells for $27,000!?!?

So here I am...in the home office...making cold sales calls on a Friday afternoon.

With Mecum Kissimmee on LIVE. -muted-

Noticing here and there people spending ridiculous $$ for lame cars...like $15,000 for a 1990 CK 1500 "454" Chevy Truck. You know, the ones with 140hp

THEN! A black '75 911 Sunroof Coupe rolls up sportin' "Carrera" script, a turbo tail and set of BBS wheels, my thoughts, not stock should bring less $ right..

Not to mention, the paint was visibly burnt via the TV camera, nothing special...driver at best.

AND IT HAMMERED FOR $27,000!!!

I'm not sure whether to call my insurance company and raise my "agreed amount" or laugh...maybe both.

Thoughts...other than the buyer made out

The seller made out; the buyer is going to have regrets...

Was it a narrow body regular 911 or did it have flares? if it did, it could have been a real Carrera. not much special about the car, engine is the same, but their value has increased dramatically over the years.

if it was a narrow body regular old 911, someone overpaid by $20K.

I meant....SELLER made out.

Shaun.

It did have a mild flare, looked like similar, perhaps a little less than my SC.

then it could have been a Carrera. $27K seems high for a car that needs paint, but it could be a good buy. and it probably had the original, now rare, tail. Here's a pic of the original tail though this one came from a C3.

I've noticed in the last 6 months to a year that early car prices (69-73) have increased greatly, well into bubble days levels. it could be that someone is banking on early Carrera prices as well. Europe is buying cars at stupid prices.

Odd. No mid years at all listed on the Mecum consignment search engine for Kissimmee 2013. Must have been a late entry?

Closest is a yellow 912E.

Mecum auctions are shady. "real money" is often much less than the "sold" price

conspiracy...artificial inflation at hand. Someone is looking to start unloading midyears at a rapid rate...I just hope they leave the 996 TT AWD Tip mkt alone for another year or so...

You sell bacon? Cause it'd take bacon to make me say, "man, it smells amazing in here!"
