Anyone know anything about this spoon?

Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22

M&P15-22 .22 LR - Smith & Wesson

I know it's just a 22, but the price is right and looks like it could be fun.

Thoughts?

How old are you? 12?

Sorry, but those were exactly my thoughts - which you solicited.

Obviously, you know nothing about the spoon in question so why bother opening your pie hole?

Thanks for nothing, and I mean that in all sincerity.

F You very much.

C-mon - what's with the allergic reaction? I put a smile there to show I am saying this tongue in cheek.

Seriously, I know something about .22s and why you should not buy this thing. It holds 10 rounds and it is a semi auto for $500. Like Paul points out, you can get a Ruger 10-22 that does the same job for half the money and doesn't look like you are going to the soft air or paintball convention. Why buy a sheep in wolf's clothing?

I'm sure it's a functional .22 semi-auto. But so is a Ruger 10/22 with a ton of "dress up" stuff available on the market.

To each his own, but I do think a "black rifle" in .22 long rifle caliber is over the top.

I know plenty about 22s. Mostly looking for something to customize, cheap to shoot and to teach firearms safety to my kids with.

Mostly wanted to know if anyone had one and had direct experience with one.

And the allergic reaction was to your crappy response. I didn't ask for your thoughts. I asked for peoples experience with a specific rifle. Not 22s in general or your preconceived notion of what I want one for.

Is that too much to ask?

I think Paul is right on the money with the Ruger. I bet that has more aftermarket stuff for it than any other .22 rimfire out there. You will be kind of limited by living in California though.

22s get around a lot of the rules, which is nice. No bullet buttons or crap like that.

I'll take a look at the Ruger. Have had a Ruger for years. My brother had gotten a new model from them a few years ago. Composite 1911 iirc, and it was crap. Had to send it back twice for defects.

I know nothing about the gun in question but living where you do, with the bill submitted by that psycho Y'all have in office out there, I wouldn't bother with it. It would not be worth the headaches.
I do like my .22's though.

My thoughts exactly...they will will probably be banned since they look evil and gets all the panty waists in CA worked up . If you want a great shooting .22LR get them Rugers. I started my boys out on those. In fact, my youngest son just graduated from Parris Island last month and qualified expert...he was the top shooter in his platoon.

I have an M&P15 that I love. I believe the .22 is identical, just chambered for .22. I compared it to a similarly priced Bushmaster and found it to be much higher quality. I say why not buy one? It's great fun to shoot, and with .22 it would be cheap.

I have a S&W 15-22
I do like it but spare mags are kind of hard to get since they are unique to this rifle.
no complaints or problems with it

we have sold a ton of them. They are fun to shoot. Not my style but whatever. Well made. Never had one cross my bench with any problems other than dirty from LOTS of rounds put through them. A little pricey for a .22 but yer paying for style here. We put a slide fire stock on one and lightened the trigger pull by adding a Timney trigger assy.. With some finesse you could get it to act full auto.

I doubt that firearm is California Assault Weapon Ban compliant.

its APPROVED BY ALL MALL NINJA"S! it quite possibly maybe "GOTH APPROVED" also.

10/22 hands down. moron simple, plethora of aftermarket parts, and dead nutz accurate when ya know how to build one with a heavy barrel and federal 40gr MATCH ammo. and i mean nail the tips off of ohio blue tip matches from 100yds with proper optics.

my kids couldnt even kill either of my 10/22's, and they have a knack for feeking up anything/everything i have ever handed them.

recipe to avoid kid damage and accuracy:

1) ditch purdy wood stock. stash in attic for yer golden years. buy hogue overmolded stock.

2) pull barrel, buy bull barrel

3) volquartzen trigger group

4) buy QD scope mt(leupold)

5) buy quality optic. NOT a $59.99 wally world bushnell

6) torque /loctite to spec.

this is basically the samo as the CHEVY CHALLENGE spoons built a few years back.

7) shoot the hell out of it!

As the law stands now, the 15-22 is. Rim fire has different rules.

I had read that there are lots of parts to customize this since it can use many AR15 components. A friend has one and loves it.

I want a light weight 22 to start the kids with. And I want something to customize so I don't get bored. I will look at the Ruger today.

Thanks.

If Rimfire is different, can you have a standard AR15 with a .22 rimfire upper? I expect you'll be limited to 10 round magazines...

I saw a .22LR AR15 for sale on Gunbroker. It was a no-name, for $895. For another $600, you can pickup a .223 upper.
