What???? of course the 996 turbo. They are pretty trouble free from what I hear. Even my porsche wrench said to stay from a 928 unless I like to fix thing myself. He hates them and he's the head mechanic at downtown Porsche, Audi and Benz. he's the porsche guy there.

I chose the 996TT or a kick in the nuts daily.

Oh wait that wasn't a choice.

Are they comparable in price? I would have guessed the 996TT would still be about $10K more expensive.

Still, for a DD I'd pick the 996TT, hands down. Better performance. It's a 911. More modern creature comforts. Better reliability (it's 10 years newer). Better parts availability because it's newer and they made a million 996s.

All logical answers point you to the 996TT. Newer, more of 'em, stupendous performance, outstanding in every way - Helluva car...

But the 928GTS is a wonderful gentleman's high speed touring car. Drive at warp speed across Texas and be completly rested when you get to the other side. It is a no-drama mama that is balls out fast. A rather rare, unique, motorcar.

The question here is not which car, but whether your decision will be made with pure logic or with something else...

My response was based more on his "daily driver" criteria. The GTS being older and more prone to breaking, and I would think is more labor intensive to fix.

Considering Angela's comment: I never cared for the styling of the 928. The 996TT may have the unloved 996 styling, but it's still better than the 928 IMO. Hence, this makes the decision even easier for me.

996TT, better and more reliable in every way. Unless you're just nuts about the 928 it's not worth the money that the GTS models bring.

VERY important question... the way you phrased the title...

Are we talking about a 996 TT, or a 996 C4 with a turbo kit slapped on? Massive, massive difference.

928, of course.

Explain?

No further explanation needed!

McLovin: were sniper in a 996TT, he would not have gotten caught by those zombies who are trying to eat his face off.

As a daily driver? I guess it depends if one of them was a "former working girl" and had 300 prior owners.

Having owned and driven a 928 for 15 years, let me say that you ought to buy the turbo. Much newer design.... A 928 was updated somewhat throughout the years but at it's core, it was still a car designed in the early to mid-70's. Technology has come a long, long ways...

The turbo without question. But I'm biased because i own one and thoroughly enjoy it and yes it is my daily driver.

I fig'ah that a 928 would be all sorted out by now...as for the 996, the AWD TT is my dream. I shall have one...someday...but the 928 thats been all sorted out is about one of the best things IMO.

A 928 is never all sorted from what I've seen. The GTS that I'm familiar with seems to be down more than its not, with its last party trick being to spin the end off a cam and crash the valves...

They are neat cars, but for a DD, I'd pick the 996 hands down
