40-50 Years ago, what annoyed people?

Ok, we have the people of Walmart, the d-bag parkers, and cell phones to annoy us these days.

What did people from earlier generations have to bug them.

I was at a local store today and the smelly(cheap or old perfume mixed with cigarettes) in front of me tried her credit card 3 times before it finally was obvious that it wasn't going to work. The clerk called for assistance so I was stuck behind her while they tried to figure out the issue. They finally determined that it was declined. Of course, she argued that "it wasn't possible". All the while, the line behind me is growing. Then, the smelly ladie's cell phone rings loudly with some annoying country song. She didn't answer it which surprized me. Then she asks if she can write a check.

Which got me to thinking about my question.

1. Trying to find a pay phone.
2. Finding out the pay phone was broken.
3. People tearing the pages out of the phone book at pay phones.
4. People using pay phones as their personal phone...

In other words, pay phones.... although all this was still happening not all that many yhears ago. One of the real benefits of cell phones - they eliminated all this.

Cars didn't start every time. Points and carbs and cold weather combined for many a dead battery.

Gas went over 29 cents per gallon.
Having to adjust the rabbit ears to get the best picture on the TV.
Nosey neighbors listening in on a party line.
The milk man didn't leave the right number of bottles of milk in the box.
The govt insisting that we change to unleaded fuel (40 years ago) to fix all our air pollution problems.

That's an interesting question, and here is why: People who biotch constantly about the "good old days" were never happy. I was around 40 years ago, (I was 13), and I remember cranky people who biotched about everything. A house could have been $20k and gas 39 cents a gallon and they whined about taxes or some schit. Some people are just *glass half-empty* types.

So the answer is, everything annoyed them.

A big pet peeve for me then was just the three TV stations. I was the remote control since I was the youngest one in the house. I had to actually get up and go to the TV and change the channel to what my parents wanted to watch.

Pretty much, its hard to find "good 'ol days". "Good 'ol days" is simply selective memory.

I actually don't remember being bugged much by anything in the good old days. I'm not bugged much by anything currently. Guess I'm not the kind of person to be bugged by much.
