By the way, is that a twin sensor in the bottom right hand corner?

Nope. It's a G-Shock Solar Atomic.

I have this one that I just picked up from Goodwill. Paid too much for Goodwill ($40), but it's brand new... sadly, it needs a battery:

Thanks. And take me off ignore.

There used to be a web site, but it's down now. THe best I could find is this:

Rubber Tire Ashtrays

I haven't looked at these things in years. I'm taking photos for someone, so here are some of my favorites:

Vogue invented the whitewall tire.

Don't know how old it is, but the dealer has a 3 digit phone number.

Firestone hard rubber tire. Could be 90 years old.

Hood was sold to Goodrich in 1929, so this is pretty old

I save lots of stuff, but I am not a collector.
I have concert Ts from every concert I went to, but I wouldn't buy a concert T from ebay or anything like that. Same with ball caps from various companies I do business with, or events that I attended. Etc.

Wait... Does all the porn on my computer count as a "collection"?

Have you tried laying it out in the sun for a few days?

mreid 02-01-2013 03:20 PM

Broke dick cars.

I have not. It doesn't mention on the placard or in the manual that it's solar powered. I just looked it up... Module 2271 takes 4 batteries that should last 18 months. Sure makes me appreciate the solar G-shocks.

:D I have to purge the collection once in awhile.

Collect is a strong word, but I have a few antique grocery type scales. In college I referred to the chemistry balances as scales a few times and the Lab TA said "Chemists use balances, drug dealers use scales".

My father was collecting these 20+ years ago. He had/has alot of them, I'd say at least 30. I have a Firestone Super Sport. I'll call him and ask him.

I move to often to collect stuff. Even with the move paid for, it is a lot of hassle to drag stuff along you do not use or need, which is practically what a collection is.

I do like tools etc and keep more than I probably need, but those do get used. Unlike the monkeys. Wait ...

Old film cameras that still work... Hasselblad and Leica.

Not cheap but that fact that I still shoot and process film is justification enough for me.

Also... Precision measuring equipment. Brown and Sharp, Mitutoyo but mostly US made Starrett.
New Starrett tools are being made all over the world so I buy second hand stuff in mint condition.

Anything made by Starrett in the Jedburgh factory (Scotland) is of very high quality.
