Lots of infected websites or overactive Norton?

Starting today, I've had two warnings on websites trying to load a malicious toolkit website 9. These are regular websites, not weird and strange places.

I'm wondering if it is a cookie putting up an infected ad.

Thoughts?

The first thing I do with a new computer is get rid of everything Norton and run a anti-virus that actually does its job..

Lots of infected sites. I just cleaned a laptop that was infected with FULL-DiskFighter and it was a mess! This person had MSE, Norton and MalWareBytes all installed and current and they did nothing to stop this malware from taking over his notebook PC and playing audio ads every few minutes. it was infuriating!

I had this happen while trying to access real clear politics website a few days ago. The next day when logging in there was no problem.

A lot of them come from ads or ad servers that get infected or taken over. The ads that are displayed on various sites pull from an infected server and become an attack vector.

Hmmmmm. And now over on my Desktop, I had it happened. Maybe Anonymous is going after conservative websites.

I recommend MSE, but it's not perfect...

I recommend MSE, but it's not perfect... especially for Trojans that download with your permission (and admin privileges)...

For what it's worth, I've always believed the virus protection people are the very ones who create the viruses. I've never used any, and always uninstall or disable them, and in two decades of computers, I've never had a catastrophic infection. I've had a few nuisance issues, but essentially trouble-free computing for as long as I can remember.
