I heard horse was good. Don't know if it's a true story, but a prof from my early years in college told some of us about his college days as a poor student. He said he'd buy a half or quarter (don't remember which) of a horse at the beginning of the year & have it cut & wrapped into steaks, roasts, burger meat, etc. He told about having friends over for BBQs & serving some up to them. Said he got lots of compliments on it, but never did divulge the real source. Wonder if they tested for DNA from any other animals.

Very lean meat. I've eaten some knowing it and millions of people ate some without knowing it...

Some country have "Boucheries chevalines" where horse meat are sold like the beef you find at a normal butchery.

Nothing wrong with Horse. I've eaten it before, and have a few poubnds in the freezer I recently picked up.
More protein, less fat that beef. Slightly chewy. Makes great stew meat.

This particular meat came from a horse that was put down for repeatedly attcking it's owner.

One can purchase horse in grocery stores in Quebec . . .

The issue isn't the horse meat.

Well, Mr Ed, perhaps you'd be willing to meat us halfway on this Burger King deal...

Nooo, Wilbur, I can't. I'm just knackered.

Sort like eating a dog. It is done in some places. Does not appeal to me though.

Regarding horse meat, I really don't care. Between growing up in the Appalachia area, and traveling the world, I've ate worse sounding critters. People who cry about horse meat are the same ones who cry about venison, and for the same reason - IMO.

However, I don't like being deceived.
If your burgers have horse meat, just say so. Make it the #7 combo; Black Beauty Deluxe with Fries. Then people can choose.

And for what its worth, ABP Silvercrest also supplies meat to Tesco, Sainsbury, and several other markets. Tesco was also in the news this week.
