Bending 1 1/4 EMT

I need to do 14, 45 degree bends with 1 1/4 EMT. 1 inch is fairly easy with a Klein bender, can't find a 1 1/4 one locally.

Will one of these work? (pic below)

Why not just have an electrical contractor bend them for you using his tools? Probably cheaper than buying a tool you'll never need again...

That will kink the thin walled stuff... We have one, its nearly useless....

You can also buy 45d bends at most electrical distributors. We sell them but I'm on the west coast.
If you are trying to have the bend at a certain measurement on the 10' piece then as suggested find a good EC to bend them for you, cheaper that way. I have a local EC I use all the time for custom offsets and such.
As Sydney mentioned, that tool will crease or kink the EMT.

Yes! and if I get a "single use" tool, it ends up getting used more. I've gone through three blades on a 14" Milwaukee metal chop saw.

But on getting an EC to come by, that's a good idea and I'll call a few locals on Monday. thank you.

I'd have them make the bends at their shop, then go pick them up. Cheaper, especially if you're a little flexible on timing and they can use this task to kill an hour at the end of a day for one of their guys. Assuming you can haul whatever length you are needing...

A one inch rigid conduit bender is equal to one and a quarter EMT. They aren't cheap and require a substantial amount of weight to bend with. Either get factory bends from the supply house, usually you can get 15 30 45 and 90 degree bends easily, or ask a local shop. It will take just a couple minutes for a good wireman with a power bender and it will look better with tighter radii. I'm about 5'9" and 175 lbs. 1 1/4 " EMT eats my lunch!

Isn't there a trick to it such as filling the pipe with sand or a spring?

Called 3 places, 1 couldn't do it, 1 said $10 per pipe, other said $20 per pipe. The one that couldn't do it, their hydraulic bender broke and they just use fittings and couplers these days.

So this is coming in the mail, all of $63 shipped, can use my jack arm and will probably weld-up a jig to use a come-along and make it easy. We'll see.

The harbor freight/northern tool dies for the hydraulic press are very crappy. Unless you pack with sand, you will get kinks....

Bender came in yesterday, jack handle fits but loose. I won't say it was easy, but it definitely wasn't hard. 13 more of these to go, done in 2 jobs, won't be bad.

Why not go find about a 5' piece of pipe that fits it?
