How I spent my weekend - update on my Mentor
This last weekend, the GF and I headed over to Pasco, WA for a Sci-Fi convention. We went because it would be my Mentor's last convention, and last Fight Demo.
In any case, I filmed the Fight Demo, and a fire show by a fire troupe called Ignition.. I also filmed Jess's last duel against one of his former students...(the huge guy in the shiny armor in the first vid) he tried, but being so frail, it didn't go well... I suggest watching at least the first few minutes of the fight demo, where he introduces himself, and then from about 13:00 to 20:00 when he talks about fighting and why he teaches what he does. A lot of good fights, throughout. These guys (and girls!) hit HARD. Jess's last fight... this was utterly heartbreaking to see. He attempts a lightsabre duel with his former student, Dragon Dronet, and collapses, to frail to stand on his own. What happens after, though, shows how much he's loved. The entire fire show...
