Gave our Panasonic 46" away today

The guys were here patching the walls from the re pipe and I asked them if anyone wanted the 46" TV, they of course asked if it worked, I turned it on and one guy jumped at it. Panasonic, we wanted a new one, 55" but the damn thing wouldn't die. I helped unplug it and load it in the back of their truck. No TV for a few weeks just to see. I realize no matter how big the TV is the shows are still the same crap, Wheel of Fortune, re runs of Castle, NCIS, some other stuff that comes on before 10, discovery and nature channels. Don't seem to get Worm Hole anymore. No TV, withdrawal, we will see. good thing I kept the cd player, we do have music.

Been w/o TV for 10 years and counting. Best decision ever. I spend a lot of time on the internet instead, but it is more fun and interactive. Also, I have more time to exercise and play with the kids.

Pretty rare that I watch our actual television. 99% online viewing.

If my wife was not addicted to HGTV, and my my daughter to PBS sprout, I would be perfectly happy canceling cable TV and just having Netflix off a wifi Bluray player or the Apple TV. Paying for 180 channels and only watching two...

+1. Only I could even do without Netflix, Bluray, etc.

Aurel, is PBS not an OTA station there? In OK we watch PBS off the antenna...

In my 21 years, my parents have *NEVER* had cable or satellite, always over the air! That means the major networks and PBS, and I grew up just damned fine! I haven't paid for cable in my last 3 apartments, and when my company put me up in an apartment that had cable, I was generally disappointed. I usually will flip the TV on when I'm in a hotel and get my fill of the BS shows....

All we had for a few months was Netflix steaming. I only got Dish Network so I could watch Giants baseball. Need an add on sports pkg for that. Wishing now I'd not signed up...I really don't like the whole satellite thing any more...99% crap. MLB blacks out Giants here and were 150 miles away.

Best show on TV is "Jeopardy". I try to watch at least final jeopardy every night, if not the whole show. I'm good overall but certain categories - I'm clueless.

I tune in for certain sports and movies and a few shows like "The Walking Dead", "Breaking Bad", and "Justified".

I also watch the news/weather reports here and there but not religiously. I hate the talking heads' on screen banter.

I also tune in to VH1 Classics from time to time - great music videos and then there's "The Metal Show"!

Kudos to you who don't watch - nothing wrong with that.

We watch very little on-air TV. But we DVR/time-shift a number of shows such as "Justified," "Downton Abbey," "MI5," "Foyle's War" and more, plus F1 and Aussie V-8 Supercars. Gotta have a TV, if only to watch great racing.

If it wasn't for DVR, I would have put my foot thru the screen years ago. Paying for content AND having to watch ads? Bite me...

there was a time where you had to pay to watch commercial free TV ,

now you have to pay to watch commercials.

The decision was simple cut the cable wire.

OK no more regular TV and i get to save about 45.00 a month.

Find a new TV with a built in wireless receiver, sign up for Netflix
Pay 8.00 a month, watch commercial free TV shows, way better.

For the sports fix find firstrow.com - first row Resources and Information.
for free sports from around the world,
watch it on your big screen computer monitor....YMMV
