Worst dates you've ever had
The "What car I should drive on a first date" thread got me thinking. What were some of your worst dates...not just first dates.
For me : True story. Went on a "date" with someone I had only recently met but seemed like a fun, adventurous type. I had some free airline tickets that needed to be used in a hurry. Turned into a disaster. Normally no problem but it was a date that lasted 11 days. In St. Lucia. Was supposed to be only a week but our flight home was delayed 4 days due to the volcano on Montserrat blowing and ash in the flight path cancelling all flights. It was horible from the beginning. Turned out I misinterpretted adventurous with immature. Anyway...trying to atleast end it on a positive note, we were watching the in flight movie on the way back. It was some Australian film about the moon landing. In an effort to make conversation I turned to her and said "Do you remember where you were when man landed on the moon?" Her: "When was that?" Me: "1969." Her: "I wasn't born until 1978." Last words we ever spoke to each other. It was a long flight home. New rule regarding age. They gotta remember man landing on moon. 'nother rule: don't do overnight trips with someone you've only known a few weeks.

Where do I start?
I remember taking out a girl that looked just like Candy Clark in "American Graffiti." This was about the same time frame, IIRC. ![]() Anyway, not only was she more stupid than the movie character, she was totally lifeless. I might as well had one of those blow up dolls. I'm glad she was able to remember where she lived because I couldn't get her home fast enough. I don't think I've been with a blonde since. |

I was in a High's Ice Cream store, Norfolk VA when they landed. Saw it on a small black and white set they had hanging in one corner of the ceiling.

1969: Two years back from Vietnam @ Fort Ord. Haven't had a (single) date since 1960. Don't remember much before that.

Wasn't born yet (although I was born during the Apollo program). And what's wrong with younger women anyway?

Had a woman/girl ask me out to a party only to find out the reason she asked me was to make another guy jealous. She wanted to date him. One of her friends told me, I confirmed this with my "date" she said I was right. I left her there.
This was not a young kid thing we were both in our 30's. |

I arrived early...she leaned over the railing of her 2nd floor condo, "Don't park there, you'll get a ticket."
Cute Jewish lady...but what did I know about Jewish women? Great dinner, juicy steak, good meal, decent chat (did I say 'cute'?), but she had a nasty cold, so I suggested that I take her home early. She asked that I stop at a 7-11 so she could buy some NyQuil...I stopped - she announced that she forgot her purse and would pay me back when she got home. The only NyQuil in the store was $15+...I placed the bag on her kitchen table. She announced, "I feel that I don't owe you for the NyQuil because I saved you a parking ticket." . Within seconds, I left...never to return her calls. . This was one of the first lessons I learned in my youth about how cheap some women are.

I met this cute local(ish) girl named Megan while I was in EOD school at Eglin AFB (Ft. Walton/Destin), FL. I asked her if she wanted to have dinner and she seemed pretty hesitant, but told me to call her on her next day off in a couple days and she might do something. Well, due to the "cold shoulder" I thought she gave me, I just ended up partying like it was any other weekend and never called. I saw her a couple days later and she asked why I never called, and she was bored, bla bla bla. Well she told me she had Thursday off, which was great for me because I had absolutely no money in the bank (I had fun during EOD school) and I thought that was payday. Well as I was leaving, I realized May has 31 days, uh oh, Friday is payday.
Well Thursday came and luckily I had a gift certificate my mom gave me to some seafood joint in Destin, and I had $20 cash my roommate owed me, that was it for the entire night (I never used checks then, so I couldn't even float one). I'll slip the GC past when she's not looking and I've still got $20 for the movies or whatever. Strike one- As I pulled into her driveway, my 911 died, blocking it from everyone else. I quickly realized the problem as I fiddled with the distributor, but I flooded it trying to start it again, and now I needed to let it sit for a few minutes. I pushed it out of the drive so other tenants could get in and out and walked to the door. Awesome, she was ready, and watched and laughed at me out her window. At least it started fine now, and she hesitantly got into it, wondering what the hell was she getting into. The Porsche mystique wore off quick when I had no A/C, smelled like fuel, rough suspension, windows down, and loud exhaust. That doesn't go well in Florida with a girl trying to look her best for a date. Strike two- As we talked, I was asking her about restaurants, and got the impression indirectly she did not like the one I had a gift certificate for. Well crap. We ended up at another (more expensive of course) one, and finally I caught a break. Luckily she only wanted a salad, and didn't want a refreshing beverage (I think I said something about not liking to drink on a first date or some BS, so she didn't order one either). I got a burger and water or something cheap and the total ended up being $16 or so. How's that for a date! Strike three- Because I had $0 left, I suggested we take a nice sunset stroll down the beach. Next door to the restaurant, there was a public beach park. We parked there (the 911 was running fine still, thank god), and walked down the beach for a bit. After the sun went down we walked back to the parking lot, which was strangely empty due to the park closing after dark. That wouldn't have been a big deal, but they had a locked gate. We had to walk down the road to a hotel so I could find a phonebook to call the Sheriff's Dept. to let us out. Understandably, we weren't on the priority list so it took an hour or so for them to show up. I'm out- Took her home, got out walked her to the door as I still had hopes, and guess what she said... Bye. Damn, she was pretty hot too. And nice too boot. Oh well. I was only out $20. That was eight years ago and my worst date ever is also my wife Megan's worst date. And I'm out waaaay more than $20, but it's been well worth it.

Had a date that sucked years ago. Friend of a friend kind of deal. She seemed nice and fun on a group date so we set up another for just us. Headed over to Hilton Head for the evening and on the ride she start to be *****y. We got to the restaurant and it gets worse..*****ing about everything and just being generally disagreeable. Wee actually ran into some mutual friends and I thought it would get better...it didn't. This chick was rude to every one..waiter, bartender, complete strangers...it didn't matter. I actually told her she better straighten up or she would be walking home(about 100 miles). She keeps it up and I stand up and tell her that's it...I'm done with her crap and I am leaving. She doesn't believe me but I head out the door, get into the car and drive the 100 miles back home with a smile on my face.
She drops by the following day and apologizes for being such an ass...brings a bottle of wine and we have a nice evening together. The cab ride home cost her over 100 bucks (early 90's).

My worst date wasn't really a date. I was very good friends with a really wonderful gal, we met in high school and remained friends through college. We'd hang during breaks at home, see each other when we could. She was headed to graduate school when I was a flight student in Pensacola. She stopped by for a few days on the way. We had a great time. The second night we both get hammered at the Flora-Bama, a bar on the border between...duh. One thing leads to another and we sleep together. Awful. I have never been more uncomfortable in my life. Disaster. We tried to talk about it but nothing was ever the same again. Pity, that.

Wandered off somewhere...
|
I had just finished internship at UPa and had a job near Annapolis, Md. I had not found an apartment yet so rented a room with a local guy for a month. He dated, and was trying desperately to pound, a skanky gal in Baltimore. He asked if I would go to a party on a double date with her sister....said it would help him get laid eventually so I agreed. When we drove up to the row house I knew I'd made a bad decision. Went to the door and his date answered and she was a hottie... Her sister, however, was huge and gross with dirty, stringy hair. We had bought a bottle and went to the party down near DC. He had promised me we'd just go to the party, then home. Well, about 2 hr. later he said the girls want to go into DC and go dancing. He promised again we wouldn't stay long... So I grab the bottle and we get into the car, a two door and we're in the back. As we drove out of the parking lot of the apartment complex, it was a heavily wooded area, I told him to stop the car....He did, I reached fwd and grabbed the door handle, pushed his date forward and jumped out...then disappeared into the woods. Later I ditched the bottle and began to hitch hike back to the house we lived in. A Maryland State Trooper pulled over and told me I couldn't hitch hike on the fwy. I told him the story, he laughed has arse off and gave me a ride back home.
