Question new Porsche with 25 miles on it history?

can the dealer scan the history of the car with 25 miles on it to asses if there was any "abuse" on it from dealer joy rides? Most of the cars at this dealer have around that many miles on the clock, just wondering if they over revved it or abused it prior to selling it. curious.

James, You sound like a great candidate for a Euro delivery. Just pick it up at the factory. Hot off the presses right into your hands. That is , right after the test driver takes it out for a spin in the country and back. Pretty sure they still do that with each car completed.

Really tho 25mi doesn't set off my alarm bells, seem reasonable just moving it around on the way to your dealer.

Cheers Richard

They can scan the car and see if it was over revved. Most new cars will have around 12 miles , a little more or less.

I recall the new Porsches usually came in to the Porsche/Audi Dealer I used to work for with about 15 miles on them and the Tech prep Ride was about 7-10 miles so that relates to the 25 miles.

I am now at a BMW Dealership and the cars come in with form 5 to 50 miles on them, the 50 miles are if they are randomly chosen for QC Check rides at the plant. Our post prep Tech check ride is a 9 mile loop.

I would say in the big scheme of things the 25 miles on the odometer should be fairly typical

I remember when I was in Stuttgart in the mid seventies at dawn you would see the 911's from the factory being "tested" on the Autobahn. I'm not sure if the miles placed on those cars (all 911's) were left on the odometer when sold. I can tell you for sure that those test drivers didn't baby them either. I don't know what the factory does these days to shake out a new car. It would be interesting to know that, and if they do allow the car to permanently record those miles. Cheers

The miles definitely stayed on the odometer. Porsche has always been proud of their QC and road testing at the factory. Every engine was dyno tested to make sure that it put out the specified power and every car was given a good thrashing on their test loop. No break-in period on a new 911, they drove them flat-out right off the assembly line.

25 miles is no big deal. I used to see new cars with 50-100 miles on the odometer being driven from the docks at Port Hueneme to the dealers in LA.
