Spilled tea on her computer...

Daughter spilled mug of tea on her comp. keyboard of her Samsung 13 inch laptop which is 6 mos. old. $250 to fix. Would anything else be affected? What to do - fix or repair?Your suggestions please?

Depends on how much liquid got on the circuitry. Best bet is to dry it off IMMEDIATELY and see what problems start sprouting up.

I dropped a Blackberry in the sink and it stopped working. I put it in a bag of rice and that soaked up all the moisture. Maybe put the laptop in a big ziplock and dump in some rice.

When that happens you want to immediately turn laptop upside down, pull power cord, pull battery if possible, hold down power button to power off. Water won't hurt it much, water + electricity will. Then open every port and cover, remove whatever you can, and dry it out w/ fan for 24 hours. Often saves it w/o $$$.

I think applecare allows for 1 or two accidents. I'm not sure what is considered an accident, though.

Many modern laptops have a self-contained keyboard which acts as a barrier to the rest of the guts. Changing the keyboard usually is a $25 DIY job if you find instructions online. My experience is only with Dell XPS and HP Pavillion, but they both work this way.

I suggest a search on youtube for DIY.

Also, the "dry the water" advice is great. But tea or any drink for that matter, including tap water, is NOT DI water and will leave behind residue that effs up electronics.
