+10,000 to that!

I owe Jim big time for some free advice he gave me...

Get well soon!

Dueller - Remember... the hospital and any extened care facility may suck but put in the work to get back to 100%... 10 years later and I wished I would have recognized this 10 years ago so that I too could have made it back to 100%.

If you want to talk about being a stroke survivor, give me a ring.

:)

Get well Jim! Glad to hear it sounds like you'll be back to normal before long (well normal for you anyway). :D

All of the (mostly) kind sentiments on this thread reminds me of how cool it is that a bunch of dudes (and dudettes) on a web site talking about cars have all become each other's extended family over the years. Proud to be a part of it!

I hope you have a speedy recovery Jim! Thanks for letting us know Sid.

I wonder if they're starting the Physical Therapy already?... maybe some range-of-motion exercizes with a bevy of beautiful nurses?

Zeke 03-25-2013 10:17 AM

Update

This is Robbin, Jim's nurse friend. He is slow on the uptake with his typing today so I am his typist. Our news is the best we could hope for in that Jim's CVA was very mild. He has wonderful odds of full recovery with a bit of work ahead. He is going through a battery of tests to determine the cause so that appropriate interventions can be taken to prevent a repeat performance. He is undergoing PT with hip thrust exercises -- somehow he said he could have used me for those -- what does that mean??!!!! LOL Also OT and Speech is in progress. He has to turn his head to the weak side (left) to swallow safely so don't laugh when he does that during your next beers. That's a safety issue. Speech Therapy also wants him to do tongue thrusts and he's wondering if he's really in a hospital or is it actually a brothel! As you can probably tell, he is still JIM with an intact sense of humor, which is very helpful in the face of the recovery he will make. He wishes to thank all of you for your well wishes and thoughts of him during this time. We will keep you posted!

All the best Jim!!!!!

And pics of the nurse or it never happened (someone was going to say it :p )

red-beard 03-25-2013 12:43 PM

Robbin, it is appropriate to post pictures of yourself here...

genrex 03-25-2013 12:43 PM

Robbin, thank you for taking such good care of him. Jim is a really good guy, and it's good to know he has such a wonderful nurse. Yes, he is a bit incorrigible and it sounds like you are the same. :) Maybe this will turn out to be a stroke of luck for our friend Jim. Thank you so much for the good news!
