in my thoughts. get well soon.

intakexhaust 03-26-2013 08:28 AM

Jim- Get well and behave yourself. I know they say to listen and do whatever the nurse say's but be nice. If she ask to take your temp but not oral, tells you to roll over and inserts that thing then leaves with the door open...

Joe Bob 03-26-2013 08:32 AM

Get well soon Bubba....

flatbutt 03-26-2013 09:18 AM

Wait....what about the NOLA saga? ;) Best wishes pouring forth brother.

Rot 911 03-26-2013 11:22 AM

Only Jim could come up with an illness that requires sex as therapy.

I'd say get well soon, but then that would take all of the fun out of the therapy. :D

Jferr006 03-26-2013 11:23 AM

Best wishes for a swift recovery!

Joe Bob 03-26-2013 12:14 PM

So....were ya in the saddle putting the spurs to it?

Dueller 03-27-2013 12:53 PM

Hi guys and gals...thanks fo all thee well wishes. helps me with the down moments. weird but it seems to come and go...mostly go. my left arm is almost totally lifeless at times and left leg is pretty much the same. looks like i am in fo a bit of a challenge with physical therapy...we shall see. after all gotta finish the nola saga.

thanks again for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers....

Rikao4 03-27-2013 01:04 PM

well if your a lefty it's gonna get interesting..
it's gonna be a climb Jim..
no sense in making it sound easy..
one day..one session at a time..

as a lefty with a once numb left arm..
I can tell you...
you can climb this hill..
and once on top..
flip the world with your left finger like I did..

I have sat here for 10 minutes trying to figure out something to write. It aint coming. Very sorry to read the extent of the stroke. I have seen many come back from it, but guts and determination are need. You have that in spades so I expect you will do fine. I am sure the Pelicans will be there for you as much as possible, don't be afraid to reach out.

fortunately i'm right handed...i can walk shorrtdistances...100' or so but its like i'm dragging a 50 pound ham along with me...where the stroke hit it seems to only have affected my coordination....for example speech, vision, sense of balance still fine, vocals only slightly slurred...very little face droop if any. all cognition ok...i still have feelings in my limbs...just spastic as hell and uncoordinated i

on a semi funny note one of therapists drew a circle and asked me to draw numbers on a clock and 11;10...i filled in rroman numerals and a little block by the '3' with 25 in it for the date . ...she said first time in 20 years anyone has used roman numerals... I told her it was a rolex datejust oyster perpetual....after all i'm a pelican. lol

btw... i'm not retarded with all the typos...my key board is f'ed up. especially the 'R' key.:D:cool:

Jim,

I'm lovin' your attitude and your spirit! After all, after surviving your ex and those twins....well, you are one tough mudder effer!

schamp 03-27-2013 04:46 PM

Jim, attitude is key and you have it in spades. Keep it up, day by day. Pulling for you.

Totally! If you were one of my patients, I could already tell you would be one of my favorites. :)

Get better soon and remember, little by little... It will come back. Love the Roman Numerals story. Clever.

today was my birthday...went to my neighbohood pub for a b'day paty with the regulars. I was bound and determined to walk in under my own power with no assistive devices...

mission accomplished but it was painfull as well as comical to watch with my exaggerated SPASTIC gate. I made myself a tshirt that read;

'I AM NOT DRUNK,
I JUST HAD A STROKE, ASSH*LE:D

now home and exhausted...
