What do you spend most of your spare...
time doing? I have concluded that many folks spend a lot of spare time doing one or two things. There are some folks that spend a lot of time drinking or gambling or chasing the opposite sex. Then there are others that spend a lot of time fixing cars, skiing a lot, or playing golf or renovating their cars. I figure if I spend too much time doing one thing, it could be detrimental. I confess what I do from most to least is as follows: computer time about 3 hours a day, tv 2 hours a day, renovating house 2 hours a day. And you?

I try to maintain a balance between doing stuff with my kids, and doing stuff I enjoy. For "me" time, I work on the cars, golf, work out, play volleyball (used to play other sports, but now it's really just v-ball). And when I can't sleep at night, I like to shoot people online over the Playstation 3 (Call of Duty). I also try to make it a point to get up to Phoenix (about a 3 hour drive) at least once a month to hang out with some of my old friends from high school.

I don't have any spare time. From work to the kiddos and by the time they hit the sack I begin more work/fun which is my writing. Rarely do I sit around and do nothing - a few times a week I may watch a TV with the kiddos...thats it.

All I do is work anymore. I used to practice my photography in my spare time but I just don't have much spare time lately.

Im in grad school and don't have nearly as much free time as I used to. Haven't worked on cars in at least 6 months. I just try to stay in shape by hitting the gym, reading some non-school related books to stay sane. Browsing the internet and chasing women are part of my regimen regardless.

Two kids under the age of 5 - not a whole lot of spare time. However, when I do manage to get some time to myself, I am out in the garage wrenching on the car or working on other projects.

A spare time it is like a spare wheel while you are driving, its there but you cannot get to it, only when you stopped, but at the stop you are thinking about more important things, then jump back into the driving seat and thinking that next stop you are definitely use it, but it continues as before and at the previous stop again and again... BUT I have an idea, hmm... What if I am schedule "spare time" on my calendar... it looks like I am becoming a writer...

Not a lot of spare time. I do not count family time as "spare" time, as it's a priority in my life balanced with work.
Otherwise: Working and driving/riding my Porsche/motorcycles Someday it'll be back to sailing. |

Maybe 2 hours a day here and other forums, another 2 hours fixing/eating dinner and cleaning house, and some time out in the garage or the barn. Generally, family time is watching TV while eating.
Soon, I will be my own GC on a 1 acre lot down the road 1/4 mile where we will be placing either a single wide house trailer, or a double wide, plus well/septic/utilities for my daughter, and her boyfriend, (paying us back). |

Since I retired years ago, I haven't had much of what I would call "spare time" to the point I don't think I'd know what to do with any down time. Doing something in my "spare" time means getting something accomplished. I watch the news in the evenings & look in on PPOT & a couple of other things for a while before bed. My list of things to do has 8 items on it and gets new items as they come up. If I had spare time, I'd finish putting my Porsche together & get it running, but everytime I try I feel guilty because there is a bunch of other things waiting needing to get done. I just finished a five day project of clearing & burning about half an acre of scrub oak and bushes as an example.

Right now I'm painting my house but... I love photography so I spend most of my spare time doing that. I still shoot film and do my own processing.
I wish I had more time... ![]()

![]() That's where I spend my spare time, in the shop working on my cars. Family time has priority but I try to work on the cars at least 3 - 4 hours per week.
