Jaguar XJ6: What's it worth?

My wife asked me about the value of her brother-in-law's car. I've only seen it once. It is a 1978 XJ6 (might be a XJ12?). It is basically driver condition, okay interior, ten foot paint job (but shiny). Don't know the mileage.

It is not running. I told her that could be a deal breaker. He said he got it running a couple of years ago but it has sat since and is currently not running. Don't know if the fuel has been treated - doubt it - or if the battery has been disconnected.

I know that is vague info but that is all I have at the moment.

Any info would be much appreciated!

I watch the Jag market and what you have there is basically what you'd get from the salvage yard. The only other way to make more than that is to wait for someone that will give you a little more for as parts car or part it out yourself. That vintage of Jag is worth only its weight in scrap.

If a V12, the motor is worth something to a hot rodder who would also maybe use the rear suspension and diff.

You might be able to get someone to tow it away for free.

Kurt- Last night, I just happened to be browsing fleabay for a 6 but only as a donor parts for a project hot-rod. I see them priced to below actual scrap metal prices to a high of $3k for a clean runner. Those cars are the secret source for some budget hot-rods and not much of anything else. Good luck
