Hildago. Well not a "Western" but I really loved that movie. Based on a true story.

I also like Viggo Mortensen in Apaloosa, which was already mentioned. I especially liked the last chapter in that movie.

The comedy want to be epic: The Hallelujah Trail....always good for some laughs. Have not seen it in years but always over the top.

Almost forgot the western with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ann-Margret, The Villian. He had a gun called something like a seven shot six shooter.

Enjoyed it mainly for Margret. She had a lot of double entendres.:)

How about

"Bad Day at Black Rock" with Spencer Tracey or

"Ace in The Hole" with Kirk Douglas?

Nobody likes The Wild Bunch? How about Lonely are the Brave with Kirk Douglas

Ride the High Country is awfully good

Herr Oberst, those are not really westerns, IMHO

Baz 04-18-2013 02:32 PM

"Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" - remarkable movie and one I never tire of watching - especially because of Newman and Katherine Ross.

EDIT: I dated a lady a few years ago who loved horses and gave her this DVD after we amicably broke up because she had a good heart and like me loved all animals. Yes - she was very surprised.

Invitation to a Gun Fight

When Confederate soldier Matt Weaver returns to town after the Civil War, he finds that his home has been sold by town boss Sam Brewster. Brewster hires gunfighter Jules Gaspard d'Estaing to deal with Weaver, but d'Estaing's independent approach settles the town's problems in a very unorthodox manner.
