Mecum - Eleanor = $1,000,000!!! WTF!

I don't know about you but I just can't wrap my head around the prices people are paying for cars at these big auctions.

$1Million for that thing? LOL!.

One of the Eleanor cars (hopefully not the same car) was on display at the Imperial in LV - all I remember was " wow! what a tattered up mess" and it had rust bubbles on it.

I suspect there's going to be some serious muscle car buyer's remorse in about ten years when that generation is no longer buying them like crazy. The '55-'57 Chevy was just nuts about ten years ago, but prices have gone back down to far more sane levels. I don't think children of the '80s are going to pay $100k+ for relatively mediocre Camaros.

^^^ +1. Probably for those of the 1980's gen and be 'hot' 10-15 years from now will be ricer's - RX7 turbo's, Supra's, WHIP Civic's, etc. LOL
Dana M. will be scooting around the crowd in some Jetson chariot pumping up buyers of how rare a rust free Mitsubishi is.

A lot of people with stupid amounts of money. Enough to fufill their abstract desires of status regardless of style.
I don't look at it as a bad thing, necessarily.
Instead of saving classic cars, they could be buying artwork or jewels or other.

On the other hand, they could buying it as a business write-off....
And creating "valueation". when sold to themselves, the next buyer will pay more....
