I cringe when I hear bad audio equipment. My stuff isn't all that high end, but through garage sales and thrift stores, I have a low budget stereo that sounds pretty amazing.

In my opinion, to be a snob, you must have the "attitude" to go along with it. The mere fact that you prefer a more expensive beer does not alone make you a snob. But if you're a dick about it....

Personally, I know the difference between good coffee, average coffee, and bad coffee. I drink Starbucks sometimes, but also am just as happy drinking from the local gas station urn.

I like a Tag Huer watch, and I own a Breitling, but I wear a Timex (on the rare days that I wear any watch).

My toolbox has Craftsman, Snap on, Mac, Williams - and a few HF and Northern tools. For me, picking a tool is 100% about the job I need it to do. Snappy has some items that you will never, ever buy from Craftsman.

And back to the beer.... I drink what I like. Period.

Now, I'm off to the gas station for some premium and coffee.

I'm only a snob when it comes to dim sum. :D

I believe any snowblower worth its metal should be on tracks.

Watch's. I don't understand how any grown man doesn't own and wear an automatic watch. At least get a Hamilton. Geesch.

I fully admit that I am the victim of advertising/confirmation bias/whatever, but I have owned a Toyota of one sort or another (sometimes mutliple Toyotas at one time) continuously since 1987 and every single one of them has been outstanding.

I am also somewhat of a snob regarding Gibson electric guitars.

OK, it sounds like it's time for a 12 step program or something... ;)

I don't think you can be a "snob" about a Toyota auto or truck. Isn't it like being a snob about Walmart or an online "university" degree? You might feel smug about perceived reliability or that you stuck it to the UAW, but the the brand is hardly a high end consumer good.

Have you even read how other cars are referenced here? And the clincher is how the air cooled snobs look down on any liquid cooled Porsches.

Yeah, most of us are snobs. And that includes me.

Feeling inadequate here with my 944 Turbo.

I like the guys who look down their noses at water-pumpers because they cruise around in a $10k 911SC. Oh yeah, and the SC is faster simply because it is a 911.

I'm not a Porsche guy, I'm a car guy. Plus I can't afford a Ferrari.:)

An overpriced, glorified Swatch??? You surely jest, sir.

Porsche snob is implied here, no? :)

I'm the bastard child of 944 bastard children...doing unspeakable unpure things to a fine piece of German porsche engineering.

I assumed it was the lighter version of "snob"..not necessarily a dick but, more "picky". I don't that there is anything I'm a dick about.

A person with an exaggerated respect for high social position who dislikes people or activities regarded as lower-class.
A person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people: "a wine snob".

Ok there might be a snobbish gene in there somewhere. I suppose I am sort of a Warren Buffett type snob. I tend to buy quality and good value and hold it for a very long time. I shoot for 90% of the performance at 10% of the price. I really try not to judge others choices but sometimes it just squirts out... My bad. And I drive a used Boxster :D

Coffee: Appreciate a good bold cup that I brew at home, never buy Starbucks.
Beer: Simple tastes but I do prefer European Pils.
Wine: Appreciate a complex $100 bottle of French wine but would never buy one. Lot's of quality Calif wines for $10-$15.
Cars: Porsche, Lexus, Toyota, Chevy that I buy used.
Guitars and amps: American made, tubes, always bought used and cheap.
Consumer electronics: Apple, Yamaha, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung

You're funny. You used Starbucks and coffee in the same sentence without a qualifier. I guess I am a no Starbucks snob. Kinda like driving a $45,000 Yugo.

greglepore 05-29-2013 03:02 PM

My s/o just gave me the speech-I'm a "coffee/wine/bike exercise/food/car/movie etc... snob"

I likes it how I likes it...

onewhippedpuppy 05-29-2013 03:23 PM

Sorry, but Starbucks coffee sucks ass. $4.50 for something that most gas stations do better for $1.00. Their fancy pants drinks may be good but I stick with the man coffee.;)

I have to agree. Starbucks sucks! It tastes burned. I drink black coffee. No sugar, no cream, no chocolate, no whipped cream, no cinnamon, no other crap. Coffee, black.

Why in the world would anyone want to wear a watch? Do you wear sock garters, too?
