If you recorded monaco f1 on west coast, read this (no spoiler)

My DVR was set to begin recording at 7:30AM. For some reason, the first 30 minutes was the END OF THE RACE. Arrrrgh.

So if you don't want to start watching the race like I did, don't start watching your recording until 35:00 in.

Poop.

All is well here. I recorded the race on NBC. I also have an autoset for NBC Sprots Network which starts at the finish of the race. Sure you didn't record the wrong channel?

I set to record NBC and just started it - looks like the beginning. The NBCSN is autorecording at the moment. Haven't looked and won't. Actually have to head to a gig so I'll just get to watch the first lap then head out and catch the rest later.

Same here. It was a real challenge to watch the race.

The real topper is we tried to record the Indy 500 but the local tv station has preempted the race for coverage of Obama's visit to see the tornado damage. Evidently watching Air Force One taxi, and the local talking heads discuss the same issues is more important to see than the Indy 500. The president does not even talk until later.

You guys are taping the replay, which aired after the post race show. The race ran long, so everything got pushed back. You should try taping the original broadcast.

Keep in mind this is the USA, where several times a year the race gets it's first broadcast on a different channel than is normal, to entice new viewers. Like that has ever worked...

As a bonus, be prepared to have the sport explained to you during the race.

Same here. I think it recorded the first replay on nbcsports. I think/hope I recorded the late replay tonight and will try to catch it this week.

All the ads I saw for the race said it started at 7:30AM Eastern time.
I got up at 5 AM and saw it all live since there was a half hour pre-race show.
It was a good race, hope you enjoy it when you see it.

1 out of 2 races run long anymore. I'm now in the habit of recording the next 2 shows when I set up a recording.

Yes, I typically tell the DVR to end recording 30 minutes to 2 hours after the end depending on the kind of event. What you don't expect is to have the start time shifted forward. My DVR is set to record the series automatically - one time per day any time. I don't recall seeing an "East Coast broadcast" on the program guide.

This is totally fubar'd. I'll just watch a stream from the BBC or something. The last straw in my process to cut the TV cord.

Did you somehow miss all of the announcements that told you that the live broadcast was going to be on NBC, not NBC Sports?

Apparently so. A) I rarely watch broadcast TV; B) I don't watch any other sports on TV; C) I was out of the country; D) I rely (used to) on DVR series recording

Maybe there is a way to subscribe to notifications from NBC?

I don't know about notifications...

You can go here:

F1, IndyCar on NBC Sports schedule - Motor sports- NBC Sports

Or, you can listen to the commercials, or the announcers, as typically they will announce the broadcast times/stations for the next race when wrapping up the current race.

Or, realize this has been going on for years (Speed did it with Fox) and just program your machine to record anything F1 related on both NBC and NBC Sports.

HINT

This is going to happen again

This traditionally happens with the Canada race.

The Canada race is the next race.

Happened to me too. My DVR did not pick up the 7:30 broadcast, if it was even on, and then when I started to view what was recorded at 10:30, I was getting the results. I was hot. I miss Speed.

Prior to every race I run a search on Formula One to make sure my DVR is recording the first airing on the right channel. I've been burned by this same schedule slippage years ago for the Portuguese GP.
