new to this please help

Greetings, community. I'm so very new to this and hope someone can assist me in valuing a 1968 911 rescued from a junk yard. I think/hope we have a good find...anyone who can direct me as to properly identifying and valuing this car would be so very appreciated. I think if anyone around the web would be willing and know how to help, it's you all.

Thanks so much
Howdoiporsche

You're about to be flooded with requests for pictures. Without pics hard to determine value.

Maybe a good solid car $5000 tops my quess, if it's in the junkyard it's probably for a good reason.

I'm not sure how desirable a 68 is, others will soon tell you, but they'll want pics.,

I'm fairly new here too, so pay little attention until you here from the big guns.

Between $100 and $100,000 depending on condition and exact model. Post the VIN and some pics. Unless you are a spam bot.

Here's a link to a 911 FAQ. Pretty good info but it's a little dated.

No stock widebodies in '68. No pronounced fender lips either.

Some of these older posts mention a 911S early registry. Where is that?

Go here, ask them.
They are very friendly and open-minded about early Porsches, not at all snobbish. You don't own a black Audi, do you?

Well, the numbers check out to be a '68S. Does this junk yard car have an engine?

You know, strange things have happened. In 2005 I towed home a '71T Targa that had an engine and trans. Turned out the engine was one of the motors installed in the limited '64 911 (901) series of only 232 cars. Same with the trans. Sold them to an East Coast collector and scrapped the car.

I paid 200 for the car.

Yup, first instinct is to call BS and thing someone's playing a game 'cause anything too good to be true usually is.

but I remember a few years back when a NOOB was asking about a complete 4 cam carrera motor she inherited but she didn't know what it was.
Lots of folks jumped on ther BS bandwagon and gave her guff, 'cept for Grady. It ended up being true and he helped her get it rebuilt IIRC.

I'll go along with it and if I get played for the fool, so what.
