Tile & Trim Question
I have just finished tiling my bathroom floor.
What should if use on the 1/8" gap between the tub and the tile? I think grout will crack here, is silicone a better choice?

If the tub is properly secured, grout should not crack.
If you're having second thoughts, go with a tile caulk. You can even get some grout matched and textured to look just like the grout ![]()

One thing to be sure to do, fill the tub with water before you calk/grout and leave it full until the grout/calk sets.

Or lay some other weight in it. Now, if on a slab, it shouldn't make any difference. Remember, there is more movement due to expansion and contraction than there is filling and emptying the tub.
It'a almost an old wive's tale, the water thing. Use the caulk. |

I always used silicone, but the tile was white 75% of the time.

I just did the same project a few months ago. Went with grout. If it fails I will caulk. So far so good. I bedded the shower pan in mortar to avoid flexing and movement.

Nothing is on a slab, or even 'particularly solid', it's an old house.
Sanded caulk it is. Thank-you.

The sanded caulking is a little tricky to work with.
Apply a bead and tool it with your finger. Then, immediately wash the bead with a damp sponge as if you were finish washing a grout joint. The caulking is odd, as it dries from light to dark, unlike the grout, which goes from dark to light. I like the brand "Custom" available in many colors at Home Depot. KT
